On the hundredth day after the new year the heralds come to the doors of the city, announcing the arrival of the Golden Caravan at the farthest stop of its route ; like every year, citizens and travellers will surely gather at the western door to see it come to pass.
Right behind the banners as customary are the sculptor priests, foremost of the stonemason orders, bringing in this year's votive masterwork for the festivities. The black and white steppe oxen precede the arrival of the head guild architect, charged with the safekeeping of the citizens' sacred geometry. The graduating apprentices and newly welcomed novices walk besides the draftsroom carriage, bearing the icons of the Citizen Architects Guild : ardor and patience. Out of the kilns of the imperial workshops come delicate masterwork sought after the world over ; the sister-ceramists are selected from various key regions of the trade system and bring their local styles to the imperial production. Those workshops are the northernmost stop on the caravan's route.
Behind the masons, the torchbearers announce the arrival of the metalworkers' guilds, chief of which the head goldsmith on a palanquin of her own design. The braseros and forges are continuously tended by guild kindlers as to remain lit throughout the entire voyage of the caravan. Second to last comes the host of the manticore, behind the braseros of the master kindlers. It is believed that the creature requires her caretakers to be pure of heart and most diligent ; the honour is bestowed only on the highest performing apprentices of the smithing guilds. On the last day finally, behind the last of the apprentices, the crones of the chain count the days left to craft, keeping misfortune at work away, and, some even say, Death itself.
i make myself laugh
Oh man we're going places
me before every situation just like a parisian sansculotte in 1795: This wouldn’t happen if Robespierre were alive.
You are not a product. You are a person. This means that regardless of whatever they did to you, you are not damaged goods. You are still whole, worthy and enough as you are.
I spent a good chunk of my weekend scrambling to finish this comic. I hope you like it. I was really trying to push myself with the colours.
AU in which Nicolas is the one to finish Mozart's Requiem during his years at the theater, and views it as an homage to his former teacher, and a way to finally asserts himself as a genius musician in his own rights, proving that he was able to learn and perfect his playing and composing skills enough to rival the great names of his times, even if he began later in his life and was considered a set for failure by Mozart himself. And despising what he composes because it is a proof that he is only good because he as been turned into something wrong, inhuman, and that becoming this irrevertedly damned creature was the only way for him to achieve greatness, whereas Lestat was a masterful actor basically from birth, and could achieve greatness whilst still being happy and human.
Anyone else sees the vision?

Yea..
Mark Antony's speech in The Tradedy of Julius Caesar is exactly what I imagine Saint-Just doing in the 'SJ survives Thermidor' AU. It genuinely works soooooo well in my head😭
I need to write a french rev version of the speech once I get more free time, because the images I get when I think of it are driving me insane
id like to formally apologize to billaud and collot who yall have now shown me were both gay as fuck in their own ways which only makes the concept of them vs robespierre and saint-just even more incredible…the entire french revolution was really just gay on gay violence
you are absolutely right, @mystirixana! Yet another proof that they are Marat-coded.
I think Marat dissolved into his bathwater like a bath bomb
Not where you grew up. Not where you’ll be living soon. Where you’re living right now.

I finally - FINALLY!!! - have time to do some research on French History for fun again, and I was wondering if any of yall could recommend me historian-approved biographies (in French, English, or Italian) of these fine gentlemen:
Saint-Just, Raymond Naves, and Mallarmé
Thank you so much in advance ❤️
You have every right to be angry at your abuser.
Even if they have a disorder, disability, trauma, or were abused themselves.
It doesn’t invalidate what they did to you.
does anyone wanna hold hands until we feel a little braver

Louis Antoine Saint-Just, Arthur Rimbaud, Jean Samuel, and Ridan are the only 4 French men to have ever passed the vibe check 🤷
well... about that...
The fact that Armand told Louis that Lestat abandoned him and Nicki should be sufficient indication that there is a big lie on Armand's part about his meeting with Lestat. He would never have abandoned Nicki.
Why was Camille guillotined in GERMINAL of all months!!! Everytime I read articles on him (so basically every night), I get Germinal by Zola flashbacks and I have to go lay down and cry for an hour or so 😭😭😭
(this post is especially for you @mystirixana)
