actually fucking insane that the moment posts about mohammad and shaima's fundraiser turned their focus on the boys of their family still stuck in khan younis, donations slowed down so drastically. it just goes to show that people truly don't care for arab men, because to them arab men are not worth the same care and effort as women and children. and that really hurts me bc i can't even stand to think of my uncles, my cousins, my dad in the situation so many palestinian men have found themselves in - let alone teenage palestinian boys. please donate what you can and help spread this. arab men deserve your sympathy as much as anyone else.

Reading Hilda Furacão, the novel (I'll post my general impressions here once I'm done), and confirming an impression I had about the show and the general opinion of those who watched it, particularly non-Brazilians who are not used to our way of doing telenovelas. Basically, the consensus (?) that the story should focus more on Hilda and Malthus and even ignore some of the other storylines is based on a misconception surrounding what the story is actually about. Drummond's novel, as well as Perez's screenplays, is not about a forbidden romance, though the romance is part of the story, but a chronicle of a city - maybe even a whole state - during a certain period of time. The title is Hilda Furacão because her character is central to that city and that time, she kind of embodies the zeitgeist if you will, but she's not exactly a protagonist, but simply another player in an immense group of people that embody a clash of ideologies, a certain sense of religiousness, an obliviousness to what's to come. In that sense, she and Malthus are, in the end, as important as Roberto or Dorinha or Loló Ventura or even fucking Tunico Mendes, and it makes sense for the plot to not focus so much on them. Of course, whether you like it or not is another matter entirely, but this is not a bug, it's a feature.
I hate this man
I PRETEND I DO NOT SEE IM WACHING RANBOO AND TECHNO CONTENT FUCK IM CRYING IM ALSO SAYING SAM BEING BROTHER FIGURE TO TOMMH PLASE WHATS HAPPENING
It's not that hard.
I hate the phrase apologist so much. I’m not an APOLOGIST I’m an ENJOYER. I’m not trying to justify c!Phil blowing up his child’s pet but I ENJOY his character and think he has complex and interesting motivations outside of being a father. I don’t agree with c!Jack Manifold wanting to hurt Tommy but I ENJOY watching him be a fucked up and evil little man. I’m not excusing c!Wilbur for blowing up a country but I ENJOY his dramatic bitchy monologues and think he shouldn’t be so demonized due to his mental illness.
Normalize not entirely agreeing with a character from a moral standpoint yet enjoying watching them be fucked up and evil because it’s entertaining and funny.
