funniest orv scene maybe is jhw finally not having to work within the good/evil morality restrictions and instead getting to execute people based off of who the groupchat thinks should die

Alien Covenant (behind the scenes)
Since we aren’t going to get a third entry in the Alien prequels, I’m thinking about what David’s fate ultimately would’ve been. In my gut, I can’t help but think he would have been eventually destroyed by one of his creatures that he so loved. Canonically, the xenomorphs seem indifferent to synthetics unless a synthetic gets in their way. So, he probably pushed too much until one of them damaged him beyond repair
I just think that it would be a very poetic way for him to go: forgotten and alone on some empty planet killed by a creature who he loves but who cannot love him — because it can’t. He made it so that it has no attachments, no kindness, and no compassion
Even though David can be clinical and detached, I think he would hope that the xenos would have some sort of bond with him
But — to paraphrase a doc I watched over the weekend — “there’s no kinship there. Just the overwhelming indifference of nature”
david was at his lowest…….roots grown out, a fuckass bob, brassy blonde hair, cutting his own bangs. career in shambles. he came on this bitch mad as hell!!!
I’m starting to think some of y’all haven’t actually felt the rain on your skin… which is crazy because no one else can feel it for you
part of the fun of the original alien is the horror of the nostromo itself imo. it’s a cell of corporate greed ferrying narrowly-trained workers across barren space. it’s huge and yet claustrophobic, cockpits crammed with machinery giving way to yawning berths dripping chains and water. the supercomputer is named mother in a stroke of human anthropomorphization, but instead of providing comfort or protection, it’s only a courier between its creator and its wailing brood. ripley yells “mother! mother!” at a matronly-voiced computer that speaks calmly over her helplessness. the ship is full of endless details and patterns and unlabeled buttons and dials the audience can’t entirely make sense of; to do anything on the ship is a rigorous, technical process, and we must depend on the characters to know it. the internal mechanics of the ship are so alien that a literal alien can hide among the bits and bobs and not be noticed. it’s great.
should i eat first or shower first *has phone in couch time for another 3 hours due to choice procrastination, a behavioral phenomenon observed in pigeons and rats as well*

He will warm up to you eventually.
ok but the orv epilogue grabbing you by the face and going "HEY YOU. YEAH YOU. READING THIS. YOU READING THIS STORY IS CANON TO THIS UNIVERSE. BY READING THIS STORY YOU ARE SAVING THE MAIN CHARACTER. BY LOVING THE MAIN CHARACTER YOU ARE LOVING YOURSELF. BY SAVING HIM YOU ARE SAVING YOURSELF."
Truly the fifth wall break of all time. I'm not sure anything can top that experience. We've peaked as a species.

CHANGBIN & I.N ☆ "BURNIN' TIRES" M/V
I'm back on my doctor who bullshit and I just. I cannot get over ninerose. he met her right after losing his entire planet and what's the first thing he does? he takes her to witness the destruction of hers, so that he can have this, he can have someone who knows what it's like to stand and watch their world burn. but he can take her back, Earth is still there, she can still go home. he can never have that. he can never go home. but at least for that short time, he had someone who Understood. he wasn't alone anymore.

ORV SPOILERS!!
one of the most powerful messages orv has tbh is "your self-loathing behavior badly hurts other people who want to care for you." a lot of depictions of depression, suicidality, issues with self-esteem, etc. focus near-exclusively on the person who suffers from them, which is understandable, but I love that orv is commited to showing how SELFISH kdj's behavior can be. he tends to trample over other people's desperate wishes to connect to him and love him because he doesn't think he's worthy of it, and it ends up being some of the worst pain those people have ever experienced when he won't let them reach him! he's of course a sympathetic character but he still has this horrible habit of disregarding other people's emotions in ways that are unintentionally awfully cruel!
like idk i don't think anything's ever put a silver bullet through a martyr complex quite like the message of "you hurt people SO MUCH WORSE by harming & isolating yourself than any pain you could potentially cause them by sharing your burdens with them." it's realistic and kind while still being the brick upside the head some people need to snap em out of it lmao
