You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.

By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.

I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?

Okay, something kinda weird, I don't think I've seen anyone talking about this yet, but I was looking for stuff on the welcome home page and decided to check the "so below" one

I noticed that the page was longer than it usually was, so I scrolled down, and this showed up.

I clicked it, and it gave me an audio that was shaking really badly with the transcript being this

[There is no dialogue. Only sounds of Home creaking, groaning, banging, or squeaking. ...Morse code?]

The page is titled 'Neighbor'

I can't screen record it to put the audio on here, but i don't know if this was already found or not, but could someone find it again and decipher it if it is morse code?

THIS IS SO CUTEEEEEEE BROOO

"Ah, your soft little heartbeat..." Without warning, Springtrap leans down. He'd been sitting up next to you, but now his face passes yours, lowering to right under your neck. His head gently stops its motion, pausing for a moment, before it slowly lowers to touch your chest. The side of his head rests against you, his eyes closing. There's light whirring from the mechanisms inside of him as he adjusts his shoulder to keep it from crushing yours. The synthetic fur on his cheek pressed against you is brushed upward as he dips his face a little more. "It's been so long," he mutters, the sound of his coarse voice now rumbling through to every point in your body.

You sit pressed against the back of the bench in surprise, grabbing at the edges of it, unsure of what to even say, as he relaxes a little more, putting a bit more weight onto you. Still in partial shock, it takes a moment before you pick up on a light rumbling noise. He begins to purr lowly to the beat of your heart.

Any non-verbal noises he made were much more mechanical sounding, but the purr is gravelly yet resonant. It almost seems to shake the air with each muffled breath. It's... surprisingly rich, almost gentle.

You feel the deep, calm rolling sound up through your head. With sharper breaths now, your heartbeat uncontrollably speeds up. Springtrap's eyes suddenly click open, the noise abruptly stopping, his body making a sudden twitch as well.

His ears flick as he quickly moves his head out from under yours, sitting upright. The warmth from his resting position lingers. He looks straight at you for a moment. "Sorry," he suddenly breathes out, he glances off. He then tilts his head, looking back, though facing his body away slightly. "Did... I startle you?"

You untense, hands still gripping the bench. You can't focus your eyes on his face. You meet his gaze for only a moment before looking down and past him.

He gives a light huff of a laugh, his gaze also wandering. "I shall... ask in the future." He looks away.
