can someone please write something where the whumpee is slowly running out of air, and they have come to the conclusion that they are trapped and not getting out anytime soon, so they call that one person, their person, but act as if everything is normal while trying to say goodbye

❝Whoa, hey, you okay there?❞
❝Please don’t pass out on me–❞
❝Stay with me.❞
❝I think you need to lay down.❞
❝I need to lay down. Like, now.❞
❝Can you help me sit down?❞
❝I think I’m gonna pass out.❞
❝I don’t feel so good…❞
❝I can’t move.❞
❝I can’t sit up.❞
❝Why is the room spinning?❞
❝When’s the last time you slept?❞
❝Do you need to eat something?❞
❝When’s the last time you ate?❞
❝I think I just need to eat something.❞
❝Let me get you some water.❞
❝Here, elevate your feet.❞
❝How much did you drink?❞
❝I think I drank too much.❞
❝Did you drink something? Did you take something?❞
❝You’re really pale.❞
❝Can you hear me?❞
❝Hey – you passed out.❞
❝Are you gonna pass out again?❞
❝I think I’m gonna pass out again.❞
❝Don’t sit up yet. Just relax.❞
❝This isn’t normal. You’re freaking me out.❞
❝Thank god you’re awake, I was about to call an ambulance.❞
❝You’re gonna be fine, I’m gonna call an ambulance.❞
❝What happened? Did I hit my head?❞
❝You hit your head pretty hard. Just stay down.❞
❝What happened? I just found you laying here.❞
Look, “I don’t feel very well” followed by some physical expression of illness/vulnerability, up to and including straight-up passing out, will always sweep the legs out from under me. That’s just the way life is.
Did anyone else ever as a kid see or read some really minor whump scenario in something but then in their head go “okay, but what if it was worse than that?”
Or like, see a character in a dangerous or risky situation and go “but what if they got hurt here? What if this super important thing they had to do, they had to do while they were sick?”
Real whumper things
Okay a heatwave is crashing thru where I live rn so time to bring back Being Sick in Hot Weather! (some based on my experiences)
Sickie mistakes their fever for it just being super hot, cue trying to cool themselves down to no avail
Maybe their fever gets worse overnight and they find out in the morning *shrugs*
Or they’re shivering and feel cold? Which tips off their SO/roommate/friend/etc cuz they’re in the middle of the heatwave
Leaving their window open to get some cool night time air in only for it to backfire in the morning
Their already sore throat is worse, their throat and nostrils are dry
Maybe something theyre allergic to got in and now they’re all sneezy on top of being hot and sick
Can’t 👏 sleep 👏 too 👏 hot
Or alternatively: the warmer weather is constantly lulling them into micronaps throughout the day
Just getting frustrated cuz it’s So Hot and they feel Horrible 😭
Hey guys
A character who had only been running on adrenaline (or stress, coffe or anything of your choice) finally crashing down.
I don't want to do stuff. I wanna sit here and think about characters so sick they can't walk.
Where are we on the tall, strong, and stoic character falling ill and being so unintentionally good at being discreet that no one catches on to their ailment until they're on the verge of collapse or until a particularly strong sneeze or cough is wrenched from their being.
Like they're not even trying to hide their symptoms, but they're just naturally so stoic and reserved they just. Don't. Until they practically can't anymore.
Drive a taser into broken ribs
You know those anime meta posts along the lines of “I was born with pink hair. The doctors told my parents I was a Main Character and ever since my life has not known peace from demons/spirits/sports competitions/harems who find me”
Well I see that, and I raise you this:
An anime boy whose appearance is, by absolutely anyone’s account, completely and utterly average. Mundane hair. Mundane eyes. Not even glasses to set him the tiniest bit apart. A simple, unmemorable, unrecognizable civilian among a backdrop of millions.
And he has a lot of passions, and a lot of ambitions, which he hones every chance he gets. He’s dabbled in sports and archery and cooking and just about anything you could wrap a competition around. And he’s competed in many of these. Every chance he gets. With all of his passion and all of his might.
He’s crushed by the competition every single time.
Until one day–one day something clicks for him. Something that should have seemed obvious from the start and yet never was–as though everyone, including himself, was unwittingly blind to it. It clicks, when he realizes every kid who’s beaten him in competition, every kid who’s gone on to fame and glory and acclaim, has been some candy-haired gel-spiked ridiculously-dressed fucker.
There’s some trend there that this Main Character boy can’t explain and can’t understand but he decides, this one time, fuck it. He’ll play along too. He’s got a model train competition in four days, and he’s got nothing more to lose. He hits up the department store, buys the pinkest, noxious-est, fruitiest hair dye he can find, the spikiest hair gel available, and the gaudiest clothes on the thrift rack. He enters the model train competition looking like a bubble gum gijinka.
And he wins.
Suddenly, the other candy-haired contestants notice him. They talk to him. They pledge rivalries. Girls notice him. Judges applaud him. Acclaimed model train aficionados offer him internships across the world. He’s hit on something.
The main cast expands to cover just about every candy-hair cliche in the book: from the mostly-normal-looking demure school girl with the blue hair to the Naruto-est, yelling-est boy with the red-and-green spiked hair. The cool megane senpais, the purple haired tsunderes, suddenly everyone is interested in him. They’re prodigies and upstarts and underdogs and they truly believe that this main character boy is one of them.
So the main character boy maintains his ruse. He touches up his roots at dawn every morning and carefully attends to his gelled spikes and tells absolutely no one about this great, uncanny, unfathomable secret he’s stumbled upon. He wins his competitions left and right. He racks up the acclaim. He’s hailed as a prodigy of all trades, just now bursting onto the scene, and boils to the top of all his candy-haired peers.
He’s rising up, his every dream within his grasp. Until one day he gets a note under his door, taped to an old picture of his Normal Boring self from middle school, that says “You don’t belong”
He/they | 30s A spot to (maybe) try my hand at fics and ocs, and collect writing (and other special interest)-related content. Will probably be mostly hurt/comfort, sickfic, whump, that kind of thing. Not necessarily a kink thing for me, but can be in specific instances, and I do follow/reblog from some kink blogs, so minors please dni. Lmk if you need any tags added!
