A super quick trick for drawing draped fabric that my art teacher taught me in high school.
Anonymous said: Your art is so natural and expressive, I love it! I was wondering how you go about cuddles?? Or just fitting two people together so it’s not awkward or stiff looking, it’s something I’ve struggled with but look to your art to see how you solve it. I was wondering about your thought process when organizing a drawing like that (I hope the English is okay!)
Thanks! ^^ When I read your first question I thought you’re asking about real cuddles :’) Anyway, this is how I go about it, sometimes I alredy have a pose in mind, but then it’s just trying until I get it right. Sometimes I use references. But this technique is really relaxing, I love to draw this way :D Hope it helps!
Okay so I followed this video about foreshortening and…
Sycra. I love you so much for making this video.
can you show us your painting steps?
I start with a base of sketchy lines (on grey so i can see the lines better)
2. Then I put down a base skin tones
3. From there I create a new layer and start adding shadows/highlights/other tones (i call them roughs)
4. I add some overlay/soft light layers to help me figure out the mood (I change this A LOT)
5. Then I work on refining/ smoothing
6. My final steps are all cleaning up/adding details/texturesHere’s the finished work!
THANK YOU! ANON!
I stopped the coloring of the shirt here cause I guess you get the basic idea. If you wanna see more of the coloring and the brush I use you can look HERE! Also you can see how not just folds but shading can define a form HERE!
I hope this helps! I’m so bad with words and explaining things (/)//(/)
My first shot at creating a sort of tutorial/guide, telling how I do things. On this initial chapter we’re going over the handy matter of Hands. Not meaning to be an encyclopedic explanation, only showing my own methods and self-taught clues. Hoping somebody finds it useful! :3 I’ll do more if this one is received well. So let me know~
My thanks also to the supporters in my Patreon campaign, who helped me decide which themes to focus on for a start. And are actually allowing this to happen. :D Cheers!
