Old drawing of a tree trunk (2013).
Sami Alkhalili, who runs the blogs @sami--onley and @alkliliyfamliye, has a young daughter, Salma, only three months old.
Salma was born in the midst of a genocide, under dangerous conditions. Her first experiences of this world are deeply traumatic-- the sounds of explosions and an all-encompassing collective fear and grief.
He just wants to be able to offer this beautiful little person safety. All children deserve safety from trauma, and it is our responsibility as adults to do everything we can to provide that for them. She deserves to know safety.
You can donate to Sami's fundraiser (gazavetters #21) here:
All of us have a responsibility to the children of Palestine.

To my two followers, sorry for spamming these photos, I just like these crops better than the originals. There's a painterly quality to them.
