No, I think the popularity of the conyuu ship is due to the staple yaoi trope of the 90s and early 2000s in Japan of having a “big guy/little guy" relationship.BL fangirls in Japan identify with ‘the little guy’ in that relationship. If you know a little bit about BL/yaoi in the 90s, you know that the relationships between the big guy and little guy were usually abusive and rape-themed. “ I love you” followed by rape, which made the ‘little guy’ realized that “Oh my! I’m in love with him, too.”This is sadly a mirror of how abused Japanese women were/are. Women in Japan have, in general, at some point in their lives (especially when younger), been pressured/forced into sex by men. The rationalization of being raped is of course: “ I’m in love with him”. And BL (yaoi) mangas were a mirror of this for many women, who saw in this rationalization of “rape into love” a defense mechanism for what had happened to them. Foreign fangirls’ simply copied Japanese fangirls’ tropes (probably not knowing about the rampant rape culture that originated it; and simply trying to stay true to ‘the original fans’).——————————————————————–Now as for maruma: Conyuu is pretty much the staple big guy/ little guy. BL fans are used to the format, and this is why it’s so appealing them. Also, the fangirls wanna be ‘the little guy’ for Conrad because he’s such a stereotypical character of everything Japanese women want (1. Tall 2. Broken/needs fixing, but nice. 3. Prince, but humble about it,  4.Protector swordsman that will die for you ). Of course they like conyuu. Now in comes Takabayashi-sensei (who wanted to create a trauma for Yuuri using Conrad’s death, that’s why she originally made them so close. Conrad was written to die in novel 5), and ships Yuuri and Wolfram.  She makes sure that they’re both childish. That they’re both the same height. That neither is quite smarter or more mature than the other. They’re “equal", in every way. Their relationship develops slowly. First they become friends, then they fall for each other (happens for Wolf a bit faster than for Yuuri).She famously puts in one of the drama cds that ”the order of the names in the ship doesn’t matter” in a dialogue between Gunter and his editor (parallel of Takabayashi-sensei and GEG) in ”His Excellency and the MA Love Journal!?” Drama cd 24, track 6 .  (- for those who don’t know the order of the name in a ship in BL informs who is ‘topping’  in the relationship- ).  

Sensei makes this couple with two characters who are equal in the year 2000, and it took almost two decades for Japanese women to get in with the times (Takabayashi-sensei is rumored to have lived in America, probably why her thinking was so forward in comparison with Japanese women).

So, no, I don’t think Temari-sensei is to blame for conyuu, but she happily catered to it and overdid the Conrad/Yuuri scenes . (I remember a particular drawing where Conrad and Yuuri looked like they were about to kiss and the story that she drew that for had nothing to do with it XD- (It’s the Hajimari no Tabi ending one XDD . I laughed so hard when I finally read the story that was so completely unrelated to the drawing).

Ok, fine. Maybe like a 2% of the blame we can assign to Temari-sensei, but the rest was cultural. :DPS. Yes, the novels are the source material.

Wolfram is an Angel and a Demon. And has anyone seen or heard of a girly Angel or Demon? There you have it! Wolfram is the most beautiful being that could possibly exist (repeated countless times in the Light Novel) who has an air of princely arrogance that can rival that of a demon. Takabayashi-sensei created a fabulous character with all his flaws and perfection! And those flaws just add to his charm! He is manly in all the ways possible.

I absolutely hate it when people refer wolfram to be feminine and girly! He's a prince! He's not yuuris wife either but a prince consort I think that is what it's called. Wolf is in no way feminine or girly! I feel so sorry for my son!

Even though you were probably just venting, I’ll write here my theory as to why some people used to think this way.First of all, I’m guessing you’re mostly talking about fanfics, and not actual fans, who still believe this nowadays: - Fanfics: Most of the fanfics available were written before the novels and manga were translated to English, which means that fans only ever had the anime to use as a reference.- Anime: Although the anime didn’t make Wolf sound girly at all, they did heavily rely on crossdressing as a gag, and some people took it to heart. - Doujinshi/Japanese stereotypes: As I’ve extensively commented in the past, Japanese fans (the original fans of the series who draw the doujinshi) are accustomed to stereotyping gay couple as “ manly dude/ girly dude” or “big dude, small dude” and since in the canon Wolfram and Yuuri are EQUALS (as Takabayashi-sensei has repeated endless times) they had to make his appearance or mannerisms more girly. This is a Japanese stereotyping problem, that Western fans got second-hand… Western fans don’t quite understand why they’re doing it but they get on the train cuz the Japanese fans are doing and think that they might have some inside knowledge they lack. As for the Japanese fans they do it because ‘stereotyping is life’, and you don’t break the mold here cuz you get kicked out of the village and starve in you do (there’s a lovely saying they teach in elementary school : ‘The nail that sticks out shall be hammered down’). Stereotyping is a big part of being Japanese… I’m not going to get into the explanation now, cuz the reply is getting long as it is.

Second of all, if a fan still thinks there’s anything girly about Wolf nowadays you must refer them to the novels immediately. People believing there’s anything girly about Wolfram (looks or personality), comes out of sheer ignorance of the canon.

The more you know about the canon, the less the ignorance of others will affect you. Rather than getting angry I’d say you should try to learn everything that you can about the books and correct people when they’re wrong. Quote using the novel number and chapter, give them irrefutable proof that you are right. 

So everyone: if someone comes up to you and says something that’s clearly wrong, be patient and show them the way.

I just realise... Does Kyo Kara Maoh actually an Isekai Anime/Manga/Light Novel?!! The kind of Isekai Anime that ALWAYS with Male Protagonist so far with Harem! Except rather than Female Harem, Yuuri get the Male Harem!??!

Well…yes haha. It is an isekai of course, and yeah, it’s a harem where Yuuri got all the nice guys XD 

But what I love about this series is how it parodies all the stereotypes, like the wonderful guy who’s incredibly beautiful but has massive nosebleeds and disgustingly snots all over Yuuri when he cries, the perfect sweet normal guy who sucks telling jokes and has a creepy side, the stoic mature and handsome guy who loves cute stuff and knits, the young prince-like who’ll puke all around in boats, the ripped spy who’s flashy and cross dresses, the macho guy who’s extremely good at cooking…

She broke every one of them in a funny way haha, specially Gyun, she broke him too much.

Also,

Ligh Novel: Yuuri casually mentioning Divorce and Domestic violence and such and calling Wolf his precious person and the likes. (It really happened)

"Ore wo suki nano wa omae dake ka yo?" or "Are you the only one who likes me?" is probably one of the best RomCom animes that I have come across till date!

The main character Joro is just too amazing! His reactions are hilarious!! And his real self is seriously amazing!

Really Daiki Yamashita did an amazing job with the voice acting!! Made me fall more in love with the anime and Amatsuyu (Joro)!! It was really unexpected of him for me because Joro's character is very different from how Midoriya or Iride is! I was surprised yet thrilled!!

I would seriously recommend this anime to people!! I wanna read the Light Novel too but I don't get the translated version😭😭

Finally, at the end of this novel, the Royal Couple gets reunited.

The 82 year old in the prime of youth was proud of all of his accomplishments in the past year.

He’d gotten engaged and adopted a daughter. He even overcame his picky eating habits. However…

Their hasty journey that His Majesty the Maou’s life depended on did not leave room to be picky about the the method of transportation. Far from a luxurious tourist ship, this cargo ship was so rough around the edges it was about to start growing fur. Despite that, the passengers jammed into the tight quarters without complaint.

“No, of course this would confuse you. This is a social class you weren’t aware of until now. My declaration was supposed to be 'Afro, moved to tears!’ but the Plainsmen’s expression remained hard. I had only deepened his suspicion with my confession that held no true emotion.

Oh, but thankfully Wolfram isn’t here. If he’d heard what I said right now there would be no excuse good enough to get out of that situation.

I don’t even have enough strength left to talk much less ask what’s important about him.   With the next small tremor, I’ll definitely fall.  I have no feeling left in my fingers at all and after losing focus for a split second, my left hand slips off.  My one arm holding on becomes three fingers, two fingers, and lastly my middle finger…

My awareness comes back with a shock like my shoulder is being dislocated. Pale fingers and a sleeve in a familiar color were solidly grasping my right wrist.

“I finally caught you.”

“… Wolf… why are you here..?”

Lord Wolfram von Bielefelt gives a bitter laugh as his beautiful face twists into a grimace. For a moment, I see traces of his eldest brother and despite the state of emergency I’m in, I feel a sense of admiration.

“You’re a flirt and a cheat so I secretly stuck a transmitter on you so I can chase after you anywhere in the world.  Hey, it’s no good with just one hand.  Grab on with both of them.”

“But with your weight… you won’t be able to pull me up.  If things go wrong, you might even-!”

“If that happens…”

Wolfram grabs a hold of my sweaty wrist with both hands as it starts to slip and gives me a stern and manly smile.

“I’ll fall with you.”

Something must have happened while I was away because this is the first time I’ve seen such an expression on his face.

“Trust me.”

Overpowered by his confidence, I swing my dangling left arm overhead.  The Pretty Boy, who used to be a delicate and high-strung little yippy puppy, pulled me up with all his strength a little overenthusiastically and he ended up falling on his back and pulling me down with him.  When I panicked and tried to get off of him, a part of my sleeve or something caught against his cheek and left a small scrape.

“Wolf, you’re bleeding… I’m sorry.”

“You don’t have to apologize.  It’s to be expected,” he says rapidly and then looks around impatiently.  “It would have been nice if Gisela had come to this side.  Unfortunately we’ve been separated.  Anyway Yuuri!  What were you doing and where!?  It’s inexcusable to leave me, your fiancé, behind and go off on some journey without thinking about anyone else!  And on top of that, you couldn’t even pull yourself up as you’re about to fall off a cliff… This weakness is unfit for the Demon King.  This is why I call you a henachoko… Yuuri?”

Didn’t I endure it until now?

“What’s wrong?”

Even when night came, when I was alone, when I met Josak, didn’t I endure it until now?  Then why can’t I bear it anymore?  It’s only been a few dozen seconds since we met again.

“Wolf… Conrad is…”

“I know.”

I must look really miserable.  He’s not even getting mad that I’m talking about the brother he doesn’t like and he’s put an arm around my shoulders.

“It’s okay if you cry.  I was a little distraught as well.”

“He’s not dead.  He’s definitely not dead, but…”

But he’s not here or anywhere.  Lord Weller isn’t coming back.

“You can cry as much as you want.  Gurrier, Gisela and I are all here.  You can cry as much as you want any time now.”

“… Damn it!”

I force myself to pull away and show him my injury from getting caught on a jagged rock.

“Look at this, you can see the flesh… It’s bleeding so much… And then this is where you grabbed me and pulled me up.  It’s all swollen and hot.  I might have sprained my wrist.   Worst case, it might even be broken.  What do I do?  Damn… it hurts… it really hurts.  It’s so ridiculously painful there are tears in my eyes… How stupid am I?”

“You’re not stupid.  The foolish one is Conrart.”

Why are you only saying things like that to me?  Things that just make me hurt even more.

Things that just make me want to cry out and sob.

“But even if you know it’s foolish, there are times you have to do it anyway.  Even you’re like that, right?  You’ve always done things like that.”

“Well sorry for being a fool.”

A man that looked like a companion of Wolfram’s comes running forward while stumbling.  I recognize that closely shaven head.  It’s Günter’s subordinate Dacascos.
