Being a crow sounds like such a fun existence it’s like
1. Wake up
2. Eat some garbage
3. Find a rabbit to fuck with because you just hate rabbits so much
4. Get to the top of a very tall tree and scream for at least two hours so that people know you’re a crow
5. Join your 3 crow friends in someone’s backyard and just fucking hop around like a goof ball
6. Yell some more
7. Okay that was good enough go to sleep!
8. Repeat
Shoutout to my neighbor whose watch must have been running a minute fast because he was shooting off what sounded like a damn canon at 11:58 PM
What a fucking way to end 2020 lmao
Hauling my spoils home (several pounds of meats and cheeses)
mais en français ??????
Anyways yeah instead of paying attention in class I decided to translate the second half of Birth to My Creation from Frankenstein: A New Musical into French for fun. There are certainly some lines that are more clunky and weirdly translated as I tried to keep somewhat similar to the original syllable counts and rhyming scheme and couldn’t think of a better translation, but lyrics are under the cut:
English Translation:
Prometheus stole fire from gods He dared to save all of mankind And just like this myth, my mission defines And writes a new tomorrow
My years of study without end nor pause Will come to end with this storm The world will be changed by medicine and my inquiries
Eternal life... reanimation... Death, I enslave The most beautiful work in all of science The body, the bones, the mind
The peak of the storm is finally here And with my preparation A necessary shock to his heart to make The life of my creation
Eternal life... reanimation... Death, he enslaves The most beautiful work in all of science The body, the bones, the-
This coming day has defeated the darkness The dawn of many revelations Here and now... I have facilitated... The birth of a new savior!
A savior
A savior
A savior-------!
Comments:
I am not a song writer nor a translator and I didn’t want to stray too far from the original lyrics even though song translations often change things around a whole bunch, so take this as a fun little side project, not anything serious. There are some things that bug me (I really wanted to keep “La vie éternelle… réanimation…” since it fits so nicely but “La réanimation” was too clunky, so...)
There are some other lines where it’s like “this is a weird way to word this, but the rhyme...it’s so sweet” which I’m just going to stick with. I was also trying to go for wording that didn’t require referring to Victor as a member of mankind -- it’s the birth of a new savior, not our new savior -- without explicitly referring to Victor as a god himself. That said, I was also thinking of savior as in the Christianity “Jesus the savior, the son of God” way.
Oh, and since the second “La vie éternelle” segment isn’t sung by Victor himself, I changed that one from saying “I enslave” to “He enslaves.”
Anyways that’s just a bit of my thought process while making this. As stated, some of the lines are...ehhh, so I don’t mind if anyone sees this, steals a couple lines, and then rewrites the rest haha. Like I said, this was just for fun and I didn’t spend very long on it so there’s definitely room for improvement!
I started off just wanting to draw Chris wearing fledgling wings (as in, the item), and then decided to give Andrew and Malik just straight-up bird wings for fun.
Nothing here is colored, but I imagine Malik’s wings to be black like crow feathers. A sort of combination of his general shadiness and wits.
Andrew has phoenix wings. He vehemently denies this and claims they’re cardinal feathers. (The tips of his feathers are jagged and black, almost like they’ve been charred. He, again, ignores this.)
Sorry to hijack your post but I’ll offer up two blurry photos of three French pigeons!
[ID: ten photos of various pigeons/End ID]
pigeon appreciation post of all the pigeons ive taken photos of over the years. the first eight are outside a train station in England. the one on the bench is actually near my house pfft, a lil mourning dove
Posting my art on reddit is an experience because I get creepy messages saying that the women characters should wear less clothing and it’s like oh? You think I made them straight? You think they’d want you?
I cannot believe I have to be the one to produce the fan content I want to see in this world
A character reference I made for a good friend for her PC in my latest D&D campaign in which the players are attempting to survive in the remains of a post-apocalyptic world. This was a very open-ended reference, as my directions amounted to a very simple sketch (showing a girl in a dress with long hair and side-swept bangs). I was also told that she likes cotton candy, is an air genasi, is a monk, and has a warm color scheme -- so this is what I came up with.
Introducing Oriana, or Ori! Originally a human, she was a monk and a scholar (with a suppressed cotton candy enthusiast urge on the side). Altogether, I designed her as a funky combination of Ms. Frizzle and Aang (from ATLA) on the body of an air genasi. I added in components of the original sketch created along with some objects fitting her personality -- books, glasses, park ranger shoes, and of course, cotton candy.
Some panels don’t look all too different without the lighting/detailing, but in others, it really does the heavy lifting, haha. Difference between the top and the bottom is colored lineart, character lighting/shading, background lighting/shadows, and some assorted foliage in the background.
Conglomerate blog of whatever media I'm getting really into at the moment. PMs/Asks are always open!!
