Another chaotic race, another race summary! Usually I'd make these digitally but I got a new set of pens and really wanted to use them,, anyways I love this circuit and GP a lot so I'm glad it was at a normal time for us Aussies :'))
I feel like those people looking away from a loading screen so it will load faster,,, all Max needed to win apparently was me NOT watching the race because it was at 4am in the morning ðŸ˜
just wanted to say i can’t follow back from my main, but hi!! i’d also love to have some f1 moots to talk about the races with (or well, moots in spirit) since there’s only so often i can ramble on to my IRLs haha. personally, i’m all for the China Chaos Era here and i’m kinda hoping we get some more action in the rain this weekend. Ik some people have been saying Max is good in the wet, but he seemed to be genuinely having a difficult time in sprint quali, so it could get exciting at the very front (hopium)

Me and you both.. i know some people who like F1 irl but it's always nice to have more!
Anyways it was so interesting to see him struggle during sprint quali because he didn't seem to have grip in some corners even though he was on a flying lap (so hypothetically the tyres should have been somewhat warm) but I'm not much of a engineering person so who knows. I'm a fan of his so obviously I wish him the best for the race but it was super interesting to see the shift after it started raining. If it rains during the race maybe we'll get to see more of a battle for the top3 which is always exciting :))
maxblr when max introduces the helmet for the new season that barely changed since ancient times: OMG! ISN'T IT THE PRETTIEST PIECE OF ART I HAVE EVER SEEN !!!
Im starting to feel bad for Lando actually bcs wdym "who do you think we're racing" ?? Are you guys not the strategists????
When you think about it, both of them started at the same year
In light of Charles becoming the new brand ambassador for Puma, I want to remind everyone that Puma is one of THE main brands on the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) targets list.
Do not fall for this shit, I don't care if you like anything they come out with. People are purposefully obtuse about why Puma is on the Boycott list and ITS NOT BECAUSE THEY DRESS THE ISRAELI NATIONAL TEAM! Puma is the title sponsor of the Israel Football Association which sponsors teams that operate on illegal settlements on Palestinian land, these settlements are regarded as war crimes under international law. From the official BDS list:
In December of 2023, Puma announced that they would not renew their sponsorship with the Israel Football Association (after the death of 30,000 Palestinians at the time). However they remain on the Boycott list until 2025, when they actually commit to divesting from Israel because they have engaged in misinformation in the past when coming under sustained pressure. In 2021, Puma claimed to stop supporting Israeli teams on illegal settlements but an investigation by BDS found that they had lied and it was simply PR crisis management: (1) they lied about not supporting teams on illegal settlements, (2) they lied about having Israeli distributors who have branches operated on stolen land and (3) they lied that one of their main licencees does not operate on stolen land.
So until Puma officially abides by that divestment, BDS have kept them on the Boycott list because they have a history of lying.
+ reminder Puma also sponsor Ferrari and Mercedes.
Unless their cheap, ugly shit is worth more to you than Palestinian lives, you can wait until they officially divest from paying for illegal settlements, so that colonisers can play on stolen land.
On today's episode:
- Alex Albon's crash in FP1 and Williams's lack of a spare chassis means Logan Sergeant will sit out this weekend, as his chassis will be given to Albon. So far, he's been knocked out of Q2 (P12), with the team choosing to save the softs for the race instead of getting a final lap in.
- Lewis Hamilton claims this week's FP2 was "one of [his] worst sessions" and that he's "used to [getting eliminated in Q2] now," just missing out and placing P11 for Sunday's race.
- Daniel Ricciardo was eliminated in Q1 for the first time after his time was deleted for exceeding track limits, an unfortunate situation considering it was the lap that could've gotten him into Q2. His teammate, Yuki Tsunoda, got into Q3 and will start an impressive P8 for the race.
- Carlos Sainz manages a P2 start for today, showing a a spectacular recovery from his surgery. His teammate Leclerc, is less lucky, citing a "strange feeling in FP3" that didn't go away in Quali. "[He] struggled quite a lot with the front tires until the last run of Q3." He will start P5.
- Sergio Perez was handed a 3 grid penalty for impeding Hulkenberg, meaning he will start from P6 instead of P3. Everyone from P6-4 (Norris, Leclerc, Piastri) will all move up a spot.
- Of course, Max Verstappen tops the times and will start from pole today.
Daniel Ricciardo's "I respect him as a driver and a person" VS Mark Webber's "while he respected me as a driver...he had no respect for me as a person"
