These mornings remind me of another story I remember reading somewhere.
This dude had escaped a bad situation with pretty much nothing but his life and his cat, and temporarily lived in a place that had no heating. He still had his job and was looking for a better place the whole time he lived there, but this was genuinely one of those "it's this or being homeless" situations.
But getting up and putting on cold clothes every single morning understandably sucked ass. The cat had thick enough fur to get by, but while both of them managed, they didn't exactly enjoy it. But the mornings and the cold clothes were the worst.
Then this guy figured out that the cat likes sleeping on plastic bags. So he started folding his next day's clothes into a plastic bag every evening, making a sort of a pad, and somehow managed to train the cat into sleeping on it. So every morning, crawling out of bed into the cold air, he would trade with the cat - the cat would crawl into his human-warmed bed, and he would put on the clothes that were warmed by the cat.
This routine went on for the winter months they lived in that apartment, until he finally found a new place they could get, that had proper heating and other common decencies of proper housing that felt like luxuries in contrast to what they had.
But the cat still insists that he folds his clothing into a plastic bag every evening so she can sleep on it. And she will not let him go to bed before he's made one for her.
hey so protip if you have abusive parents and need to get around the house as quietly as possible, stay close to furniture and other heavy stuff because the floor is settled there and it’s less likely to creak
I know I posted about Goncharov and Defunctland last night, but that was an earnest desire to see this trend examined under a microscope because it’s fascinating to see it escape containment.
However, while I know most folks are just having a bit of fun with it, the number of people complaining that others are “ruining” the joke by tagging it for unreality is too damn high.
I’ve answered far too many asks in private in the last 24 hours from folks with psychosis begging me to tell them if Goncharov is real or not because they trust me, someone they don’t know beyond my medical advocacy posts, not to lie to them.
So in case you need this: No, Goncharov is not real. It’s Tumblr having a bit of fun with a made up gangster story premise from the 1970s. Most of the gifsets you are seeing are from The Godfather and some other 70s and early 80s films. The musical scores are being composed by some very talented people here on Tumblr, as is most of the art and quotes.
I’m sorry if people are telling you it is real and are refusing to reassure you when you admit it’s causing you distress. Some people are just taking things too far for the bit and aren’t acting with kindness. I hope they will reconsider.
If you were unaware that the Goncharov is causing some people some considerable distress, that’s okay. Tumblr is huge and you can’t be expected to know everything, but please do tag all your posts and reblogs with unreality to assure people that it’s part of the site-wide joke.
If you’re one of the people complaining that tagging it with unreality “ruins” the joke, please reconsider and examine why your enjoyment of people’s distress is necessary to your enjoyment of an otherwise fun and crowd sourced bit that many people are having fun with without being cruel.
Anyway, go have fun you creative little gremlins. Just do it with more kindness.
an expert analysis of my five day old chicks
Alright, i notice a lot of you have the Generic Tumblr Icons and- in case you dont know- Tumblr has a bad case of Bots so every once in awhile, creators and other blog owners will do a purge.
What do we do in the purge?
We block any and all Bots
It used to be easy but now- not so much
Let me show you a common Bot
Nothing on their page, with a standard icon.
Now, a year or two ago, i know this is a bot and i can block em, done deal!
But now-
I see Ikarus, i think they are a bot
Its the same right down to their posts. No reblogs, but it differs on the likes and follows
But this? This is not good.
Not only are you not supporting your content creators by reblogging their items, but it makes it so hard for those creators not to block you.
And shabang- you end up with a creator blocking you with no idea why.
If you have a standard icon, please reblog from your favorite creators- we're on tumblr, no one cares about the weird shit you like or reblog, and if they do- the block button is there :)
But the first thing to do to get off the block list, is to change your icon. And i'll show you how on Mobile.
Take note, i am an android user, but the process is similar for Apple
Head to your blog, and at the top right corner, you will see a little pallette. This is the universal edit me for your blogs where you can change color and font
Now you can see what i can edit and what's available, my icon and banner, my background and accent, but for now, lets focus on that icon!
This box will appear, you can choose to not show your avatar/Icon, and the shape of a Square or Circle, that's up to you, but for now Choose a photo and use any of which you like! You can zoom in on a photo to get a single character or not, that's up to you.
Tumblr offers many icon sets if you'd like, my suggestion is to not use an IRL photo.
1. Cause its the internet
And 2. You'll still maybe be banned cause a lot of Porn Bots and 'Sugar Daddy Bots' use IRL photos. Like below
Just keep it in mind, and have a fun time changing your icon to suit you!
whenever im sad i just think about how the welsh word for microwave is popty ping
Feeling rough lately.
when i go in a room and forget what i needed i become a point and click protagonist. [water bottle?] that’s not helpful right now. [socks?] i don’t know what to do with that. [charger?] that’s not helpful right now. [scissors?] i can’t do anything with that. [water bottle?] that’s not helpful right now. [lone paperclip?] that’s not helpful right now. [water bottle?]
I've seen this before, but it's been years and it just came across my Twitter in its dying days. The words are from a favorite author of mine, Maggie Stiefvater, and they are the words I most need to hear when it comes to dealing with chronic pain and illness. I didn't need this the first time I saw it, six years ago. I need it now. Maybe you do, too.
