the idea of the peredhel twins having heightened senses due to their maia blood is one of the concepts ive seen floating around that i really like, so here's my take on it combined with the feanorians (+ fingon) lingering about as houseless spirits that i explored some time ago in an old inktober post đ
houseless spirits see all, but they can't interact with the world around them so i suppose that makes for quite a static existence...but compared to an oathbound eternity in Mandos (sans Fingon??), i like to imagine they'll stay a little longer to watch over those left behind, just to make sure they're doing alright đđ»
some more lighthearted bonuses cuz why not:
All hail Volcano Snail
So this is your friendly reminder that a certain heroic part of Samâs and Fingonâs narratives are the same. To summarize:
â Best friend is capturedÂ
â Go to dark fortress to save best friendÂ
â Cannot find best friend
â Sing a cool songÂ
â Best friend hears song and sings with youÂ
â Find best friend and save himÂ
Maybe somehow, in a way, even though the time, language, and situation were very different, they sang the exact same song.
Saw this post on Instagram the other day, so ...
âNobody will ever know what it is like for them. The Valar tell nobody of it. But Elwing and Maedhros fall into this strange, unnatural rhythm. Sometimes it feels like they are laying down and longing to die. Other times, it is all that keeps them alive. Each night, the moon climbs the trees, an aloof observer. The two of them begin uncurling out from themselves and into each other like pressed-together seeds in the cold earth. An unasked-for hybridisation.â
thought todayâs sickbed sketch was cute enough to share, so enjoy desert island frenemies-with-benefits Elwing and Maedhros, as seen in my fic The Island Dwellers where they explore each otherâs bodies for the sole purpose of fucking with the Valar đ
first watercolour art in like 6 months?? and also first maitimo this year
âOh brown haired man with a lightsome air So blithe and bright and fair Each tuesday when I trysted thee again All the week was worth to me And so young were we when first found love Found ourselves in the hazel grove Oh brown haired man with a witching smile Full of love and free from guile So soft beneath the lonely hawthorn tree Came thy whispered truth to me Iâll be with thee, my brown haired man In the sunshine or the shade Iâll bring times of bliss to thee So sweet thy kisses were to me And thy voice was melodyâ Brown haired Man - Sava
Generally Iâm a terrible reviewer of fic. When I like something very much, I always want to write a review that would make the writer feel at least half as great as their fic has made me feel, and always end up talking about MY feels instead.Â
But seriously, emilyenroseâs The Starless Road is one of the best fics Iâve read. Itâs a unique case for me, while reading it I had this distinct feeling, sad and bittersweetly hopeful, like I had reading the LOTR itself, closer to its end. It has the same atmosphere, fairy-tale-ish and profound, and something just shines inside it. I loved it and if you havenât read it yet, go, go.  Just wanted to make a little watercolor or Sam and Fingon doing hobbit things together. And now Iâm off to cry over them some more.Â
at this point its tradition i make one of these for every major fandom i get into so⊠silm community heres my terrible hot takes on the house of finwe

Elrond: Let's maybe not swear a binding oath to keep jewelry away from an Ainu at all cost. Let's maybe. Let's maybe just like, pinky promise to do our best. Trust me on this, you don't want to swear any oaths
