so outside of kink and improv where are people available to express "cartoon villain emotions" with
it wild to me that there are people out there who aren't interested in history
like wdym you don't think about the fact that women would tell stories as they made butter in the same way we listen to podcasts today? wdym you don't think about that one Chinese poet who wrote about how much he loved his cats hundreds of years ago? wdym you don't think about the fact that we found a gravesite of a young child surrounded by flowers from THOUSANDS of years ago? wdym you don't think about how people wrote "i was here" into the walls in Pompeii? wdym you don't think about the little egyptian boy who drew little doodles at the top of his school works more then a thousand years ago?
wdym you don't think about the fact that people, no matter the place, time, social status, are fundamentally no different from you. that they loved the same as you, enjoyed the same things you did, dreamed about a better life the same way you did. that despite how seemingly detached you are from these people, in time, place, and culture, the things you do and the thing u are, are so undeniably human that it transcends time and space
My medieval servant boy has gone missing. I’ll just use Google to see if I can find him.
No but the Hunger Games really said "what do you hate more- the atrocities or the people who commit them against you? Because like it or not there IS a difference. If you hate the people who commit acts of pure evil more than you hate the acts themselves, what will stop you from becoming just like your enemies in your pursuit of justice? What will keep you from commiting those very same acts against THEM when the opportunity arises? And what then? The cycle of pain and suffering will never stop. Round and round it'll go. Nothing will ever change. But. BUT. If you hate the atrocities. If you hate the vile, senseless acts MORE than you hate the people who did them to you. If you are able to see that evil is evil regardless of who does it... The cycle ends with you. No, you may never get justice. But you will never be responsible for making others, even your enemies, suffer the same crimes you have. The atrocities will never be committed by you, never by your hand. And that's the way you change the world. It's the ONLY way" and that's why I am sure it will never stop being one of the most relevant works of fiction ever created
My husband’s job primarily employs adult men but there is one (1) teenage girl and my husband said originally he worried she might be a bit of an outcast but instead every man on the crew was like “huh guess I am a dad/older brother now.”

I don’t think any movie will make me feel the same ethereal sense of otherworldly sorrow and disembodied awe as that scene in Lord of the Rings where the loyal son is sent off into a doomed battle to please his vindictive father while Pippin sings a mourning song of his people
I was like 12 and high off this shit
So, let me guess– you just started a new book, right? And you’re stumped. You have no idea how much an AK47 goes for nowadays. I get ya, cousin. Tough world we live in. A writer’s gotta know, but them NSA hounds are after ya 24/7. I know, cousin, I know. If there was only a way to find out all of this rather edgy information without getting yourself in trouble…
You’re in luck, cousin. I have just the thing for ya.
It’s called Havocscope. It’s got information and prices for all sorts of edgy information. Ever wondered how much cocaine costs by the gram, or how much a kidney sells for, or (worst of all) how much it costs to hire an assassin?
I got your back, cousin. Just head over to Havocscope.
((PS: In case you’re wondering, Havocscope is a database full of information regarding the criminal underworld. The information you will find there has been taken from newspapers and police reports. It’s perfectly legal, no need to worry about the NSA hounds, cousin ;p))

maturing in my masculinity has led me to realize that my little pony: friendship is magic was absolute fire and i will die on this hill
odysseus absolutely does present a threat to penelope if he perceives her as at all unfaithful, and i feel the unfairness of this, and i think people tend to undersell how much tension at least potentially exists between odysseus and penelope. but i'm also like. his reaction, all speculation aside, his actual reaction in the odyssey to her flirting with the suitors is delight, because he immediately ascertains that she is running a con. sorry that they're so in-sync in spite of the forces that try to drive a wedge between them, including their own misgiving hearts. sorry that they invented homophrosyne ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
girl scout cookies are the closest i will ever come to doing drugs apart from laufey music on a Saturday afternoon

OMG
The LITTLE Little Mermaid
Yesssssss!!! I feel like people don't take advantage enough of the fact that different fantasy races are races, whole different species with different ethnic groups and cultures just like humans. Too often they're monocultural, and make the humans be the most interesting race purely because they don't all look the same. Even better when you start bringing conflict into the cultures, that's where the good stuff comes from
I don't think fantasy writers play enough with the concept of the different fantasy races having distinct ethnicities. Like imagine a group of mixed peoples, where the dwarves are all roasting each other like dwarves do, and one of them remarks that when he first saw one of the other dwarves in the group, he mistook her for a man. The other dwarves in the group blink in surprise - the closest that dwarves will go to an audible gasp of shock - and she pulls out a knife and tries to stab him.
Once the dwarves have been separated from each other and the situation has calmed, one of the humans asks another dwarf what that incident was about. Naturally a human woman would have been insulted too, but dwarves are so jovial about insulting each other, why was this matter different?
And the dwarf who was asked explains that there are things you can brutally insult another dwarf about, and there are things you simply do not touch. The dwarf-woman in question is from a completely different region of The Great Underground as the others, and her people have different norms about what kind of patterns men and women braid into their beards. The dwarf insulting her wasn't only insulting her appearance, he was being racist.
The human is surprised to learn that dwarves have different peoples, and the dwarf looks at them like at an idiot. Of course they do, they even look completely different from each other. And the human listens as the dwarf lists off various distinguishing clothing details too nuanced for a human to notice, and then how dwarves coming from different corners of the world have different physical traits, according to what kind of conditions their local stone types dictate.
The human spots a connection and goes oh! We have that too, though ours are not about rock types and tunnel air, but the weather aboveground. Humans' facial features vary by how hot, cold, arid or windy their ancestors' homelands were, and our skin tone varies by how much the sun shines in their native region.
The dwarf frowns at the last part, going "I thought you people just paint your skin and dye your hair for fun", and the human admits that yeah, we do that too, but not all the time, and not the whole skin. The dwarf asks, what of that tall woman the colour of dravite, her palms and the soles of her feet were lighter than the rest of her. Does that mean she paints herself dark to be more beautiful?
The human says no, that just happens naturally. Maybe it's because one's palms and feet aren't exposed to the sun as much, so they are paler.
The dwarf nods, still unsure whether this is actually legit or just the human habit of lying for fun, and proceeds to ask about the wild northman of their party. He is as pale as an olm, but the palms of his hands and the soles of his feet are dark. Are they painted, or naturally that way?
No, the human answers. That guy just doesn't bathe.
the world is running out of glassblowers and yet you want to become a fucking doctor
Once you start using a term to describe how you feel about something instead of what it is, then you've done nothing but make the term useless.
Also PILGRIMS PASS MENTION HECK YEAH
As a person who is conservative politically (I'm assuming) what do you make of all of these GOP people making Nazis salutes? (Musk now Bannon). Are right wing news outlets reporting this??? Sorry if this is out of left field, but you're the only person on Tumblr that I know is not left-wing and I'm curious of your opinion.
I'm fairly conservative, and I do have some options.
I've actually interacted with real NeoNazis.
I need you to comprehend- the guys I dealt with would have killed me if they thought they could have gotten away with it. They were not happy I was there, but I had a gun, spare mag, And a guy with a Roland special who wanted to kill them almost as much as they wanted to kill me.
Unless you have faced that level of genuine malice, it's not something that's easy to wrap your head around. I did not think you could literally feel someone's killing intent until I looked in one of their eyes.
People are far, far, too casual with calling people Nazis. Stop watering it down.
This is an amazing take
Jinx’s psychosis comes through in these quick film scratched doodles. Whenever a flash of her unstable personality leaks out Arcane presents them as if Jinx herself took the film stock out of the projector and madly scratched these doodles into each frame before haphazardly stuffing the film reel back into the projector.
You could look at the entirety of Arcane as if it was a show that was filmed and edited by someone trying to tell a story, but then Jinx (as her own character) has found the film reels of the show and is actively interacting with it to tell her OWN side of the story. These scratches and doodles are essentially Jinx’s commentary track.
But what’s interesting to me is HOW her doodles often represents WHERE in her arc she is.
For example. Early on these doodles are deliberately being used to BLOCK out scary or unnerving imagery. The soldiers on the bridge, the bad memory of her sister yelling at her. Jinx chooses to draw OVER these moments. Literally trying to scratch them out from her memory. Because she’s a child here and Jinx’s personality has always been about protecting her child self, it makes sense that even as a commentator she is choosing to block out these moments to protect her child side.
But as the story goes along, her doodles take on a more narrative function. She starts doodling characters talking to her from the sides. She’s not blocking out the memories, she’s actively using the doodles to help give form to the formless voices in her head. She’s saying “see? I’m not crazy, Mylo was telling me shit! Look, there he is behind me!”
Near the end of Season 1 this narrative storytelling choice Jinx is doing starts to become even MORE clear. Now these doodles aren’t just to represent the voices in her head, they are used to re-contextualize her own memories. So as she thinks she sees Caitlyn laughing at her, she literally draws devil horns on her head, reframing this moment of Caitlyn’s fear as mockery.
And of course when Vi triggers Jinx in the climax of the season, her scratches become MUCH more visual and representational. These doodles don’t look like the usual film scratches we’ve seen up till now. If I were looking at this from a filming perspective this would be more like they were literally projected into the set Jinx is acting in. They’re multi colored. They look more pencil like than film scratched. They’re not as bloom heavy as previous scratches, and the film doesn’t jostle about as much indicating Jinx isn’t drawing these directly on the film stock like previously shown. I would say these look more like she’s literally surrounded by her doodles in-camera.
And this continues into season 2. She’s still surrounded by her demons, and it’s filmed the same way as in season 1. The only major difference is that now her doodles are interacting with each other. She draws Isha running around shooting away the bad doodles and trying to protect her. Once again this is Jinx telling her story through these doodles.
When Jinx loses Isha and is contemplating suicide, jinx’s doodles are ALL that remain. The screen turns black and nothing but Jinx’s doodles comes through. This is almost like the memory of her is so overwhelming that she literally blacked it out, and the only way to reinsert this moment into the show is for Jinx to draw it frame by frame. Up until now the doodles have always been drawn on top of the frame. And while Jinx is often in the shots and can appear small and overwhelmed by the doodles, she’s never just outright been blocked out by them. I think that’s what this moment represents. She is so lost that she can only recall this moment after the fact and redraw it. It’s not perfect, it may not have even happened this way, but it’s the only way she can piece together what happened between shots.
And finally… when Jinx enters the final battle, something different happens. Up until now Jinx’s doodles have been used to block out memories, draw the voices in her head, reframe moments from her perspective, etc. They’ve been abstracted and rough and off to the side or drawn haphazardly over the stuff she’s blocking out. She never draws it on herself. So what happens here?
She draws an accurate representation of what she looks like in that moment on top of herself.
This is Jinx FINALLY coming to terms with who she is. She’s showing us that in this moment THIS is who Jinx is. It’s not abstractly represented. She’s not blocking anything out. She’s not reframing the moment. Shes not recreating frames that were missing. She’s just drawing what is represented in the shot and who she is now.
If these doodles are Jinx adding commentary after the fact then this flash is her putting a punctuation on the end of her arc. Up until now these doodles could be seen as her showing HOW she became Jinx, but this final moment is her saying this version of her is the TRUE Jinx.
And of course, there’s the “THE END” shot. That is Jinx literally signing out her story. If you ever needed proof that Jinx is alive, the fact that Jinx doodles all over the show is proof of that. Arcane is Jinx watching back the story of her life and adding her own notes and commentary to the film reel itself and that is what WE, the audience, are watching.
THIS IS WHAT I'M SAYINGGG. Kendrick has some of the most interesting and well-done albums in recent history, and he's just such an interesting person to discuss and everybody wants to make it about the Canadian. People don't even look at the beef in context with who these artists are and what the significance of it is, people act like it just exists in a vacuum. Honestly, we need to get better material.
>Search for Kendrick music video gifs on tumblr bc I think they're cool
>look inside
>his whole body of work is being made about one singular rap beef
>rewatch older music videos and interviews
>look inside
>all the comments are about the rap beef even if the video is almost a decade old
Sorry I have to rant real quick because this bothers me so much, not to mention it makes me sick.

Why is it that male domestic abuse victims don’t nearly get as much attention as female?!
Seriously, did you know that about 40% or more of domestic violence victims are men? I bet you didn’t, because it’s constantly overshadowed by the 60% of female victims. I know 40% doesn’t sound like a lot, but god it pisses me off how much male victims are brushed off in favor for females.
Lemme make something clear: every victim, no matter their gender, race or religion, is valid. This blatant ignorance of this has to stop.
Oh, and to the uneducated ones who say it’s victim blaming to blame the female perpetrators? Please… open. Your f*cking. Eyes! If someone is abused, the gender should not be the first priority. It should be the situation and trying to find a solution to help the victim!
Basically, what I’m trying to say is that this sort of mentality is not only kind of misandrist, but also really damaging. This sort of thinking can make male victims feel like they don’t matter, which is a load of bullsh*t! Male victims are victims too, and telling them “you’re a man” and to “suck it up” is not helpful. It’s just pushing the narrative that they don’t matter. They are no less of men than they were before. And if anything, the mere act of speaking up about their experience is incredibly brave..
My point still stands that this sort of thing should be addressed. Male victims are just as important as female victims. Please remember this. And to all the male domestic violence victims out there, who are too scared to speak out…
You are not alone. There will always be someone who will listen to you. Please… just hold on…
A/N: Sorry if this is a bit off brand for me, but I had to get this off my chest because it makes me sad and angry at the same time.
went to the gym with a pretty girl. haven't stopped thinking about pretty girl all day. want to go to the gym again with her tomorrow. it wasn't a date, the most touching we did was when i taught her how to properly dap. it wasn't a date, only the reason i woke up anxious and early in the morning and counted down the hours till i was ready to leave. it wasn't a date, it was just a hangout, just a quick couple of push ups and a breakfast together.
it wasn't a date, it wasn't a date, it wasn't a date.
I'm terrified of turning her into an object, into some puppet for my mind to blow out of proportion. I refuse to lust over her, all I can think about are her eyes and her smile and her voice and her future. I'm desperate to get to know her deeper, to know all her ins and outs and hopes and fears and dreams and desires and how to make them her every day. I refuse to simp over her, keeping in mind she has her own life outside of mine, remembering that she's a human with flaws and problems and insecurities just like everyone else.
I went to the gym with a girl, not a goddess.
Yet my heart just yearns to worship.
God help me to not.
