Since we're talking about our AU versions of Eri, I wanted to add in my own version of Eri. It will have spoilers for Rewritten Sparks, and I might ramble a bit at first, so keep that in mind.
For those reading who don't know, I'm a sucker for the Henshin/Magical Girl genre. Heck, I grew up with the Power Rangers.
One of my favorite Henshin tropes is The Sixth Ranger/Member, where a new member joins the established cast. Sometimes, this trope involves the new member being a child that ages up when transformed. You see where I'm going with this?
Eri will end up being the "Sixth Ranger" of the Peacemakers, but not in the way you would expect.
I'm not going into full detail on Eri's role in Rewritten Sparks (or maybe I will depend on how I write this), but I will share how she becomes Snow White.
Sometime after UA's Culture Festival, Eri regains her memories of the original series. She only remembers up to when Aizawa trained her on how to use her quirk to help Mirio. She tries to help Mirio again, but Stryxxxer, for some reason, is insistent on not letting her do that and wants her to have a normal life.
One night, after Stryxxxer reads Snow White to her, Eri asks him why he doesn't want her to help them fight villains?
This still confuses Eri, as he didn't have any problems training her the last time. Why did Stryxxxer suddenly change his mind? It wasn't fair. She wished she could grow up to be a hero like Deku.
Weeks later, news of a new heroine spreads around. There's no records of her. When reporters get the chance to ask, she explains it's because she's from the future, so her name isn't in the hero register yet.
(This is a placeholder until I work on an official design.)
So I was thinking about that anon ask about Eri and the more I ponder it, the more I kind of vibe with villain(ish)!Eri.
Imagine an Eri who wasn't mistreated by Overhaul. Whose life improved once she was taken in by her grandfather. She gets everything she wants and is spoiled rotten by both her grandfather and Chisaki. Maybe she buys into Overhaul's ideals, it was her quirk that killed her father and made her mother resent her, after all. She's manipulated into helping him instead of being outright forced, rewarded with his affection.
(Chisaki tells her that her grandfather is sick, and she believes him without question)
Then Izuku, Mirio, and the heroes come and ruin it all. She doesn't want their help, but they defeat Overhaul and she's given to UA. And she hates it there. She tries to run away, acts out, and pitches a fit every chance she gets. She warms up to Izuku and Mirio because they take the time to get to know her, value her opinion, and don't try to police her behavior. But she absolutely hates being in Aizawa's custody, especially because he can shut off her quirk. She constantly tests Aizawa's patience.
She wants to go home and be with her "Papa" and "Uncle Kai." But then learns that Chisaki hurt her grandfather because he protested against using her for his experiments. And it changes her entire outlook. How could her beloved uncle hurt her grandfather? Kai would never hurt family, he always said that!
Now Eri isn't just angry, she's devastated. She's sad and confused and in pain in a way she doesn't understand. She becomes so subdued that UA (in their infinite wisdom) stop watching her as closely. Big mistake. She runs off, and this time no one's there to stop her.
Only to get picked up by the MLA. They've been watching her since she was taken in by the Yakuza, but they aren't exactly sure what her quirk is. All they know is that it's powerful and want to use it to their advantage. So they try to interrogate her to no avail (Eri, as the granddaughter of a Yakuza boss, has seen real interrogations and is thoroughly unimpressed). They try to coerce her into joining them willingly, which triggers a mental breakdown because it's so similar to how Kai convinced her to help him.
Everyone only wants her for her power. Everyone except-
Izuku and Mirio (without a quirk like a boss) rescue her and it's here that they earn her admiration and adoration. Because she treated them horribly, but they still saved her. They still cared for her. Not for her power, but because she was important to them.
I like Eri in canon fine, but I won't refute that she's one-dimensional. I think something like this would have been really interesting. It not only makes her more layered as a character, it also drives home that every kid is worth saving, not only the sweet, innocent victims. Very good chance for parallels with the LOV.
(But I'm actually glad Horikoshi didn't do this. Girls in anime with complexity aren't treated well, just look at Gabi. Eri would have gotten a lot of hate for being "annoying" or whatever)
I'm thinking of incorporating it into the rewrite somehow.
SUE THOSE JERKS, MASSACHUSETTS!!! 😆
I’ll just leave this here
@black-and-yellow: As long as you use the same color scheme and iconic outfit, you can draw Loudspeaker in any pose you want.
Me, looking at the single album cover of a song that I find fitting Loudspeaker and realizing that it has the same color scheme:
I don’t know about you, but when I’m drawing, I like to get into the vibe of the drawing by listening to some fitting music. If you would like to do the same, here are some songs I listened to while drawing this bad boy, maybe you will find some new music you like! Cannonball Судно Jealous Playboy
Here’s the rules:
Artists: You can change the pose and expression as much as you fancy, just try and keep to the colour scheme. And keep the iconic outfit, of course. Cosplayers: Just try and replicate the look of the original image as closely as you can. That’s fair, then. You don’t have to be following me to enter, so send this to your mates if you think they’d fancy it. Keep it clean - don’t use any explicit language or gestures in your redraw, please, as I’ll be reblogging all the entries! And make sure to tag me so I can see! Deadline is Midnight of the 14th of May, winners announced the day after, there will be 3 but only first place will get a comission. I’ll contact the winner after the post goes up. Most importantly, have fun drawing our man Loudspeaker. Or… being our man Loudspeaker, in the cosplaying case. Also I forgot to put it in the photo but I will draw gore and injuries or whatever if you want something super edgy.
Me: *trying to get other AUs done*
My Brain: Present Mic but ✨✨✨J-Pop Idol✨✨✨
Me drawing this: WHY!!!???
*****
So there’s a lot more to this AU than just Present Mic, or in this case Sunny Day, having a J-Pop Idol Singer style over a Punk Rock DJ Style.
Sunny Day is from a My Hero Academia AU that I’ve been working on called Illuminate.
…
Time to explain this AU’s plot for the umpteenth time.
*****
*****
So yeah. In this AU, Sunny still has her original quirk, Voice, along with an Illumi Quirk called Cockatiel.
If anyone has any questions about my AU, feel free to send an ask.
“But if you forget to reblog Madame Zeroni, you and your family will be cursed for always and eternity.”
UM GUYS. I JUST NOTICED A CRAZY ISSUE W THE TUMBLR UPDATE.
My only regret about posting this... I didn’t add enough ATLA references. :’3
Greed: So how’s the grub? Heinkel: It’s not bad. Darius: Better than last time. You know, when you set our mouths on fire…literally. Greed: I said I was sorry! Geez! How was I supposed to know that all those spices would react like that? Edward: *starts to giggle* Darius: It’s not funny, you brat! My tongue would’ve burned off if we didn’t get any water in time. Edward: *slurs* Wow Mr. Monkey, your face looks kinda funny. It’s all swirly and stuff. Heinkel: Uh…kid? Are you alright? Edward: Of course, kitty. I never felt better. *pokes Heinkel’s nose and giggles* Greed: What the… Edward: Hey. What wrong with my arm? It looks like some type of robot or something. Greed: *looks down at the stew he made* What the hell is in this stuff? Edward: Whoa…look at all those pretty colors…heheheh… Greed: Okay, kid. *snatches Edward’s bowl* That’s enough for you.

pffFFFT thank you very much for the impromptu snippet hahaha
IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW!!!
IZUKU IS SUPPOSED TO BE A FREAKING GAG CHARACTER!!!
Ah yes, the infamous page.
There are many things about this that piss me off. Not that Izuku isn't a pretty boy, idc about that. He's as cute as a button, but I wouldn't call him a "pretty boy." But the AUDACITY to a) call him a gag character when he's literally the protagonist, b) put Bakugou in the same category as Todoroki for looks, c) call Aoyama a gag character and Bakugou a pretty boy. Like, what???
Aoyama is 10x prettier than Bakugou, tyvm. Furthermore, Horikoshi didn't even bother to make Bakugou look pretty. *cough* ugly ass rat *cough*
He should have at the very least switched Bakugou and Aoyama. But seriously, why does Horikoshi hate Izuku?
Hi, I'm also developing a reboot of MHA, although my intention is to create something new with the concept of the manga, I'm creating new characters and creating a totally different worldbuiding, but I'm keeping the essence of the manga, like focusing on education of heroes. I'm still in the development phase, but I have an idea of how I can write Katsuki's character, even though I'm really reinventing the character, like he's literally another character. But here's what I have planned for him: . Katsuki was born into a prestigious family, where all the individuals are famous people, including his parents, as much as it may seem like a fantasy, it wasn't quite like that, Katsuki suffered enormous pressure to be perfect, this was done by his grandfather, his parents tried help him, but they often agreed with his grandfather, and everyone in the family kept saying that he is the next number 1 hero, but then I want to focus on the part where Katsuki tries to find out which hero he really wants to be, since everyone else he just said that he would be the next greatest hero, but he himself realized that he doesn't know what hero he wanted to be.
. Katsuki suffers from pressure and this influences him to develop an inferiority complex, mainly creating a fear of not being able to achieve his family's prospects. This influences the way he treats Izuku, since our protagonist was the only one who saw Katsuki in a different way, like seeing the blonde as a person and not an object, but all this changes, when Izuku does something that until then Katsuki was the only thing he could do in their classroom and that the blonde was proud of (I'm still thinking about that episode).
. Including this episode and the fact that Izuku has a quirk considered useless for being a hero, it made Katsuki explode with rage and start offending Izuku, calling him useless in front of everyone, which influenced everyone in their class to start bullying Izuku. (In my reboot, Katsuki didn't actually bully Izuku, but he didn't protect or defend him, and he was the one causing the bullying).
. Until when Izuku was 12 years old, he was removed from his school, in addition to All Might (He will have another name) becoming a guardian for our protagonist (Something will happen that I don't want to reveal), after an event. This made Katsuki feel guilty, but he tried to ignore it, thinking that he won't have to worry about Izuku, but it still makes him have a guilty conscience. This ends Katsuki's participation in this moment in the story, as he will focus on Izuku's training and how he will adapt to his new life.
I want to give Katsuki a chance, I don't have hatred against the character himself, I think my dislike of him is more about the poorly done redemption and the fans who don't accept anything other than idolizing him. I also want to write a healthy rivalry between Izuku and Katsuki, even though they will start as enemy rivals, but as the story goes on, they will both have a serious conversation and really understand each other, even though in the first part I want to focus on Izuku and his squad, Katsuki will be an ally in the upcoming arcs. There are so many things I'm creating for my reboot, I really want to create something new and different, I don't want to reveal anything, but I'm actually proud of how the development of One for All's worldbuilding is going.
Wow. My first ask in...forever.
I hear you, Anon. This is a similar problem that I had with Bakugou's redemption arc: He sort of remains stagnant and doesn't really change that much...also the fact Aizawa was willing to go through hell and back to defend Bakugou's abhorrent actions.
For me, I wanted to make Izuku and Bakugou actually be friends. But I didn’t want to completely sweep what Bakugou did to Izuku under the rug. This is one of the reasons that I added the 'MHA happened but it was an alternate timeline' plotline. To make the story different from the original while properly addressing problems that were never resolved.
And like you, I plan on making Izuku and Bakugou's rivalry a healthy one. But it's not all sunshine and rainbows. In fact, Katsuki remembers the actions of his past self like Izuku. So it adds the extra layer of 'Is he doing this because he actually wants to be friends or is it out of guilt?' to his and Izuku’s friendship.
And now: @anartisicandautistickunoichi screams into the fandom void.
