“O — kay, should have let curiosity get the cat, should not have asked, regret asking now. Eugh—” She can't help grimacing, the visual accompanying Ivy's explanation the culprit. In spite of her disgust though, “Was it at least— no... no, don't tell me, I don't need the details.”
“Look, you're getting worked up, and you're probably getting worked up for nothing. So, you slept together, big deal. What are friends for?” You're not being as helpful as you think you are, Ames.
“'fraid it isn't a phase, but a maybank trait. i would have thought you would have figured that out by now, i mean you've seen my brother. you know my brother.”
it isn't snarky—but it isn't sweet either. it's somewhere in between, because she doesn't like the fact that millie knows her well enough to be able to read her. “my brother and your brother are god knows where, doin' god knows what, and i'm supposed to—... what? skip across the beach, alcohol in hand? act like everything's fine and dandy?”

“this isn't concern …" millie chuckled drying, arms folding over her chest with a click of her tongue. always playing it cool, unaffected by others. the only person she ever truly worried over was john b. "it's me acknowledging how fucking annoying you've been acting lately and wanting to know what's up. like how long is this attitude gonna last?”
“first things first, honey pot,” she raises her chin, the pogue's head held high now, “we aren't on entitlement isle, watch your tone. you don't talk to me like that—nobody talks to me like that.”
