Where would you stay? 😍😮👇 1. Mars Colonies: Humans in the future would live in underground/enclosed habitats on different planets/moons 🌒👨‍🚀 2. Bishop Ring: A gigantic ring that would spin to produce artificial gravity by way of centrifugal force. 💫🥏 3. O'Neil Cylinder: It would consist of two counter-rotating cylinders. They would rotate so as to provide artificial gravity via centrifugal force on their inner surfaces. Eg: Cooper Station in Interstellar movie 🌃🌌 4. Halo ring: Ringworlds or Halo rings would have a thickness of a few thousand feet, and require raw materials with a mass equal to that of Jupiter. Mountain "walls" a thousand miles high would line each rim, preventing the atmosphere from leaking into space. The inner surface could be sculpted like Earth's surface—full of great (though shallow) oceans, soaring mountains, and prodigious farmland—or whatever its builders desired. 🌍 Repost @human_civilized https://www.instagram.com/p/CDxe_SnjKyh/?igshid=1qff0njlnzv85

Inverted City Beneath Clouds

Inverted City Beneath Clouds

How could that city be upside-down? The city, Chicago, was actually perfectly right-side up. The long shadows it projected onto nearby Lake Michigan near sunset, however, when seen in reflection, made the buildings appear inverted. This fascinating, puzzling, yet beautiful image was captured by a photographer in 2014 on an airplane on approach to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. The Sun can be seen both above and below the cloud deck, with the latter reflected in the calm lake. As a bonus, if you look really closely -- and this is quite a challenge -- you can find another airplane in the image, likely also on approach to the same airport.

Did You Know That The Museum Has The Largest Collection Of Fossil Horse Skeletons In The World? 🐎

Did you know that the Museum has the largest collection of fossil horse skeletons in the world? 🐎 In the early 1900s, exhibits showed a classic, linear progression of evolution. Today, the display also offers a more current view of evolution with a complex, branching history. Cladistics, the grouping of organisms by shared, specialized characteristics, shows that some later horses, such as Calippus, are actually smaller than earlier ones. It also shows that other later horses, such as Neohipparion, still had three toes. All modern horses have one toe. Photo: D. Scientists Discover A Huge Black Hole, 700 Million Light-years Away, That Eats About One Sun Per Day

Scientists discover a huge black hole, 700 million light-years away, that eats about one sun per day . . . . J2157, which is the fastest-growing black hole known to humans, is amazingly large and extremely hungry, a new research conducted by an international team of astronomers has found The results of the study were published in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society. The research, led by The Australian National University found that the black hole is 34 billion times the mass of our sun and eats nearly the equivalent of one sun every day. One of the authors of the study Dr Christopher Onken said that the black hole’s mass is also about 8,000 times bigger than the black hole at the centre of the Milky Way. He went on to add, "If the Milky Way’s black hole wanted to grow that fat, it would have to swallow two-thirds of all the stars in our Galaxy.” J2157 was first discovered by the team in 2018. Dr Onken said that researchers are looking at it at a time when the universe was only 1.2 billion years old, adding that it is the biggest black hole that has been weighed in that early period of the Universe. According to a report in CNET, Fuyan Bian of the European Southern Observatory (ESO), who is also part of the team, said that how much black holes can swallow depends on how much mass they already have. "So, for this one to be devouring matter at such a high rate, we thought it could become a new record holder," Bian went on to add. As per the report, the team used ESO's Very Large Telescope on Chile to get the data on the black hole's mass. The black hole is hidden within the galaxy Holm 15A, which is 700 million light-years away from earth.
