Well universe has its own ways of expressing love, at times by painting a Heart Shaped Nebula on the canvas of Cosmos and at times galaxies in the shape of Rose. This image of two interacting galaxies, called Arp 273, has been released by the organization that operates the Hubble Space Telescope in celebration of the 21st anniversary of its launch into space. M100 and Hubble’s Repair

When Hubble was first placed in space, a issue with it’s mirrors blurred the telescopes images. A space walk to fix the issue was a huge success, and a crystal clear image of M100 Galaxy sprung into life.

Fast forward over 25 years later, and an upgrade carried out in 2009 to add the Hubble’s Wide Field Camera 3, took a further leap in quality.

M100 is 55 Million light years away and part of the Virgo super cluster of galaxies (which our Milky Way is also a member) with the massive M87 elliptical galaxy making up one of the main galaxies in that group (of recent Black Hole image fame !).

Many of the elements we’re made of come from supernovae Everything from the oxygen you’re breathing to the calcium in your bones, the iron in your blood and the silicon in your computer was brewed up in the heart of a star. As a supernova explodes, it unleashes a hurricane of nuclear reactions. These nuclear reactions produce many of the building blocks of the world around us. The lion’s share of elements between oxygen and iron comes from core-collapse supernovae, those massive stars that collapse under their own gravity. They share the responsibility of producing the universe’s iron with thermonuclear supernovae, white dwarves that steal mass from their binary companions.
