Cleansing Techniques for Low Spoon Days

I’m really glad this was requested because it’s an issue a lot of people face and one I’ve run into a lot during my studies. I totally understand why people say that everything should be clean and organized for a good, thorough cleanse, but that just isn’t realistic or possible for everyone. Some days you can do it, other days it feels like you’re staring down Mount Everest.

So I’m gonna share some of the cleansing methods I use that help on low spoon days.

Music - There’s no catch-all for this one. Everyone will have a different type of music that does the trick, and that genre will change depending on what you need in that moment. Sometimes I blast Icon for Hire, other times I’ll go with Cirque Du Soleil or Kevin Kern. It doesn’t matter what you listen to so long as it makes your space and you feel better.

Open Up a Window - I’m not a huge nature witch, but I’ve found it very helpful to have fresh air blowing into my home, especially when there’s a lot of negative crap circling around me. Sometimes on bad depression days I’ll just stand in front of the window and let the air wash over me. I combine this one a lot with the first method.

Scented Candles 1 - If you have the ability to light candles choose a scent that makes you feel good and light ‘em up. Sit close to a lit candle for added bonus of aiding in mental cleansing.

Scented Candles 2 - This is gonna sound weird, mostly because it is. If you have floor/rug space enough to vacuum, take a scented candle that you like, carve it so that you’re left with a bunch of shavings, and sprinkle them all over your rug/floor. Depending on your preferences you may want to vacuum them up after an hour or two. But if you want to leave them, less work for you and easier on the spoons. You can sprinkle them under rugs or welcome mats for the same effect and no one will know they’re there. I’ve done this a few times and as weird as it seems, I’ve found it very helpful.

Tea - If you’re not too worried about potentially attracting little bug friends, you can do the fourth method with tea leaves instead of candle shavings. Some people might find this more effective because of the cleansing properties of many herbal teas.

Air Fresheners - Find an air freshener that really leaves your space smelling fresh and clean. Inscribe the bottom or side of the container with a sigil designed for cleansing.

Boil Water - I do this a lot when my house is too dry, so why not when it needs a cleanse, too? You can add things to the water to aid in cleansing. I usually do crisp apples, orange peels, cinnamon, anything that I personally associate with cleansing. Find out what works for you, load it up, and leave the sucker there to boil.

Salt - I can already imagine the eye rolls, but it helps. I keep a bottle of sea salt next to my bed so when I’m just fed up with my environment and feel like I need something fast to push away heavy, negative shit  I’ll grab a handful and just throw it. It also feels good to throw stuff across my room *shrug*

That’s all I’ve got for the moment, but I’m sure there are eight million other methods to cleansing that are easier on the spoons than a full house cleaning session. If anyone has methods of their own to add to this, please do! I’ll probably reblog as I see them :)

Pretty easily applied for both beginner, closet and experienced practitioners alike! Can be used in most areas of mundane and magickal life (with some ideas listed below).

White

White can also be used as an all-purpose color for your intention when the color you want is not available.

Ease Skin Picking Spell

Made a simple bath/shower soak spell to help those who obsessively pick as I couldn’t find any that quite suited my needs. This can be done to help try to prevent picking, or after picking to soothe your insecurity and help not only to feel better but to keep the fingers off later. Hope this will help you guys as well!

(Note: This spell will work best paired with conventional therapy like CBT to help ease your picking, however if you don’t have access it’ll still help. Remember, witchcraft is never a substitute for medical care!)

Ingredients:

Pink salt (or any salt if in a pinch) to help cleanse one’s habits and headspace. I only mention pink due to the correspondence with love, in this case self love. It isn’t required.

Fresh or dried rosemary to protect your skin from your fingers.

Lavender (plant or oil) to act as a calming agent to help cope with nervous picking.

Basil to help steady the mind.

A small chunk of rose quartz to promote self love and acceptance of how your skin is.

The sigil below written on a scrap of paper. It’s the Anglo-Saxon rune Kenaz that helps one to take control of a situation and signals a moment of change. 

A bag that water can run through.

(Optional) Epsom salt to help relieve physical and mental tension and soften skin. (Works better for baths).

(Optional) Music that brings you joy and will help you relax.

The Spell Itself:

Mix together in a bowl/ mortar and pestle the salt, rosemary, lavender and basil. While stirring, focus your intent on recovering from a relapse and preventing future ones. If it’s hard for you to keep mental focus, you can verbally chant:

“May these herbs and salt help me cope, keep my fingers from my skin, and learn to love myself for how I am. I will recover and like my skin, I will thrive.”

Repeat as many times as needed. Once you feel satisfied that your intent is imbued, take the scrap of paper and write Kenaz onto it and drop it into your bag. Then put a cleansed quartz crystal or chips into the bag. Finally pour the rest of your salt mixture into the bag (along with epsom salt if you choose to add it). Once you have everything in the bag, close it up and hang it on your showerhead so water flows through it onto you while you shower, or in your bathtub. The goal is to get the energies onto you via the water, so do whatever works best for you.

After you get the water running you can start playing your music if you choose. When bathing, spend a little while focusing on the intent to stop picking. Once you feel content with the energy you’ve put in, just relax and enjoy yourself.

This spell can be repeated as often as you feel necessary. It’s not realistic to say it will immediately end all of the picking, but I hope it will help over time. To help heal picked spots, make sure to use antibacterial cream like Neosporin to ward off infection. Also, if you pick, be gentle with yourself. You might lose the battle but eventually you will win the war. Most of all though, remember that these sores on your skin don’t define your worth. You are so much more than a mental disorder or bad habit. You can get through this and I hope this helps. Take care you guys. <3

Cleanse your space well and layer the ingredients in the bottle, focusing on the intent of each one. Now some of these are more personal and can vary for different people, e.g. I used desert sage because it grows wild here. Maybe you hate mint, if so then don't use it. Etc. Put the candle in the bottle and light it any time you need to clear your brain fog or make a tough decision.

I don't have an incantation for this one because I typically don't use them. Instead I use bells (pictured) or some other instrument to raise the energy and bring everything together. In this case I rang the bells over the bottle, focused on their ring, and let the sound gradually fade, then focused on the silence.

I feel like selenite works be a good addition, I just didn't have any extra on hand.
