Oooh, I hadn’t necessarily considered the Bruce/Martin parallels in Gotham... Very clever. I do hope we get to see more of Martin in season 5, though I know things are a bit squished.
THE SON OF GOTHAM // THE PRINCE OF GOTHAM
This will never stop being the perfect mix of adorable, adventurous, and mystical--truly the winner of all Halloween comics :)
Putting on "The End" and wiping off my makeup in the sharp white light of the hotel room mirror as Gerard sings for me to do so. Thinking about them towelling the bloody bullet hole off of their forehead somewhere, either in a nicer hotel room than this or perhaps on the bus. Picturing all the makeup coming off all the faces of all the fans, rinsing down a thousand drains as adrenaline fades to weariness and the concert high fades to a vague, aching yearning for more. There is a mournfulness at the end of the celebration, but there is yet a celebration in the mourning, a togetherness even still. And after all, is that not what this band is about? The twinned emotions of mourning and rejoicing and the times when the two are inextricable?
Putting on eyeliner this morning for the My Chemical Romance concert and thinking about how many other fans might also be doing this at the same time; thinking about how many fans have done their eyeliner for a show over the years in the past. Thinking about Gerard doing his own eyeliner. Achieving spiritual union with the MCR fandom through slightly messy eyeliner.
So I know it’s late November and everyone has pretty much moved on to Christmas and such, but I’m somewhat slow with processing things and I still wanted to share my Gotham-themed trunk that I did for my church’s Trunk-or-Treat this Halloween. It’s the first year I’ve gone so specific with a theme, but I got so obsessed with Gotham over the summer that I couldn’t help myself. So, I decided to make my trunk into the Iceberg Lounge (circa early season 4, though my Penguin costume is more season 3-inspired).
I’ll probably do a few separate posts, actually, just to break down all the different parts and how I made them, but here are some general pictures of my trunk and myself in costume. For anyone who doesn’t know, Trunk-or-Treat is a thing some churches, and other organizations, do where a bunch of people line up their cars in a parking lot and decorate their trunks. It provides a shorter, safer trick-or-treating route for parents with young children or anyone who doesn’t want to go house to house, and it’s also a way for people like me who live way out in the country to get trick-or-treaters. (Speaking of living out in the country, I did wash my car the day before this, but living on a gravel road, the dust always comes back...)
My Iceberg Lounge trunk, in brief, included purple umbrella lights fixtures, a frozen Ed-berg, penguin statues, and Oswald’s shiny orange bar counter. For my costume, I wore a fancy suit (obviously, haha. I also learned it’s really fun to shop for menswear). I even found a wing-collared shirt like Oswald wears in late season 2/season 3. I knew I would never be able to get a wig into proper disco vampire form, so I decided to wear Oswald’s bowler cap; I still probably didn’t get the wig trimmed short enough on the sides (I bought a basic black bob wig at Walmart and trimmed it) but I’m pretty pleased with how the spiky bangs turned out. Naturally, I also found myself a nice long, black umbrella to complete the look :)
I was really hoping that at least one Gotham fan would come through and get it, and I could point to my icy Ed and go “look! I even have Ed!”, but alas, no one did. One family did a Batman-themed trunk and I strolled over, as in character as I could manage, to introduce myself, but I did have to explain my costume to them. I was fairly happy, though, that at least a couple of people did get that I was the Penguin (”let’s see, purple parasols and birds... you must be... the Penguin?” guessed one gentleman). Anyways, now I’m posting it here, so hopefully some Gotham fans will see it and appreciate my theme!
Anyways, here’s a rather more heartwarming Mother’s Day fanart piece of young Loki learning magic from his mom :)
“You [Thor] and your father cast large shadows. I had hoped by sharing my gifts with Loki that he could find some sun for himself.”
OMG MOM UR SO COOL HOW DO YOU DO THAT WOWOWWOW
There was an old joke in the Once Upon a Time fandom that you could put a coconut and a lighter next to each other and people would start shipping them... But like... I can see Stabby the Roomba and Blessie the Plant Monster making a great team, haha. They have a compatible spirit; they both resulted from humans messing around and now they enjoy messing around with humans.
How did I stumble into this madness? My friend was telling me about Stabby a while ago, and I noticed that a lot of the posts about it made reference to some kind of sci fi fandom; she told me that Stabby had been adopted by a podcast called Wolf 359. This Monday I needed something to listen to while I was fabric painting a shirt for the play I’m in, and now I’m 33 episodes (plus mini episodes) in and I needed some Stabby-flavored levity again.
Stabby and Blessie for interstellar domination 2k19! Now excuse me while I check if there’s an AO3 tag for this ship, lol.
wolf 359 aesthetics- stabby x blessie for anon (i promise there will be no more shitposty aesthetics from now on… maybe)

Me, far out of my Whovian depths, scrolling through Killjoy stuff: Hey this artist’s style reminds me of Johannesviii.
*Sees whose art it is*
WAiT a SeCoND!
*whispers: they’re e v e r y w h e r e *
Anyways I am glad they are having a nice, restful nap. They definitely needed it.
The Killjoys can have a little nap… as a treat
(yeah I know they have a car in the music videos, not bikes)

Shoutout to Long Face by the Vampire Lestat for being an actual real song that actually made it onto my top 100 songs this year btw. Do you think Lestat will make one of those little "thank you fans" videos to thank all of us who streamed his music?
I may have also spent at least half of my weekend binging MCR music :) And music videos. And behind the scenes stuff. And interviews.
I sometimes feel like a bit of a bandwagon fan since I first heard Welcome to the Black Parade in 2016 when I stumbled onto a Doctor Who fanvideo set to it (which you can find here btw; it’s still a fantastic video) and so I’m not one of those fans who’s been desperately waiting since 2013 for this reunion, but I’m still quite happy to hear they’re back together, and I guess I’ve been making up for lost time by obsessing, haha.
It’s kind of fun to get into a band that has a fandom attached, too. Like, I also really love Shinedown, but I’ve never found adorable art like this of chibi Brent Smith hanging out in teacups (although if anyone has any, do please let me know!!). Like how cute are these? And the color schemes, and the aesthetics... an excellent artistic tribute to an excellent band :)
Welcome, dear traveller, to our fantastical lande shrouded in swirling violet mists. Here we study how stories shape our lives, how words weave wonders before our eyes. Here we are enamoured of love and the connections betwixt people. Here we seek daring adventures in our wild lande, delving into the unknown at every turn. But mostly, here you'll find my obsession with any number of things, like Doctor Who, the Vampire Diaries, or any number of others from the ever-shifting tide of obsessions through which I cycle. My more-used sideblog is blagueofchaos if you ever wish I posted more :) She/her, 28
