I think it’s very interesting that Alec’s full name is Alexander.

Alexander means ‘man’s defender’ which is often his tactical position during fights. He defends the perimeter with his bow and often gets the brunt of attacks.

Although it fits perfectly with his identity as a Shadowhunter, it also fits nicely with his personality.

Alec is very defensive over the people he loves:

- He threatens Clary over Jace

- Kills Meliorn when searching for Magnus (insane moment that cemented him as my favourite character)

- Was adverse to Simon dating his sister (who he’s extremely protective of)

Even with his sons he’s always defending them, he worked hard to make sure Rafael was adopted properly.

Not to mention all the things he does for the Downworlder community.

Alec spent a lot of his life worrying about being unable to live up to expectations, only to become what his name represented.

Just realized that my book won't finish itself and that I actually have to write for the book to grow. What a scam.

The fact that Matt Daddario is gorgeous and makes my knees weak on the daily aside: - he is so good? He loves animals so much? Like when was the last time that you saw a man dedicate so much time and attention to cows and dogs and even slugs? Like I’m pretty sure if he wasn’t an actor, he would work at the animal shelter or have his own farm - I CAN’T UNSEE THAT PIC WHERE HE HOLDS A TINY BIRD? SO SMALL, SO GENTLE, ACTUAL REAL LIFE SNOW WHITE - he loves his girlfriend so much??? He and Esther are goals. They are so cute and they are clearly so comfy with each other and so supportive of each other? - he loves making food for other people? So pure - he understands alec and took the time to analyse his motivations and personality? He gets why he is the way he is and he is so protective of him and his decisions? HE LOVES ALEC SO MUCH TBH? - let’s not forget his malec kiss commentary, because that shit is golden - his dark humour and snark and sarcasm? I’m??? I love it so much?? - THE PUNS - THE WAY HE IS SO CURIOUS and wants to understand stuff and learn?

When people ask me what my hobbies and talents are but I can't say that I've developed a very acute sense at seeing the similarities in between siblings and between their parents bcs I never had siblings so it always seemed like such an abstract idea to me, and that my hobby as a five year old was to stare at random families on the bus, but that's weird and very much probably not normal.

So I just say I really like writing and listening to music.
