you don't "hate kids," you hate being forced into a caretaking role.
you don't "hate kids," you hate censorship passed off as family values.
you don't "hate kids," you hate the constrictiveness of the nuclear family.
you don't "hate kids," you're just not used to occupying fully age diverse spaces so you're not used to the noise or the many different kinds of needs.
you don't "hate kids," most public spaces just aren't built for kids, and so the few kids you see are always uncomfortable and distressed.
you don't "hate kids," you hate the intense social rules assigned to kids and anyone who interacts with kids.
You don't "hate kids," you hate how society reproduces its most restrictive elements and how kids are powerless to resist it.
yes i stand for zoke slander :)
zoey, the manic pixie nightmare.Â
stereotypical indie girl– obsession with alt rock / oldies bands, only listens to shit on vinyl, gave herself a stick + poke tattoo of a moon on her wrist at her friends house. has a superiority complex that makes her sort of manipulative to any guy who’s dumb enough to like her (mike)
mal may hate mike sometimes, but it’s out of a need to protect the body and zoey is like literally his worst enemy.Â
Real. I know haysilee got sunk with the “sis” comments but they were infinitely more interesting. They didnt have to be written as love interests in any manner but the sis stuff feels shoehorned…altho maybe thats the middle school haysilee shipper in me talking lol
Also i thinkn Lenore being a watered down Lucy Gray kinda hurt her. They are very, very similar, and it takes you out of the story if youve read both. When i pictured haymitch’s girl, i pictured a regular seam girl with simple dreams, and i cant help feeling that approach wouldve been better.
Additionally, idk how i feel about making lucy gray, lenore dove, and potentially even katniss all covey. I read somewhere that it showcases the poerr of culture as a resistant force to oppression, but it does also feel a bit insular snd chosen-one ish.
lenore dove doesn't haunt the narrative, she suffocates it.
speaking as a huge fan of the guy (to put it mildly...) i can't stop thinking about how much it sucks that gray's character arc is lowkey the only thing the cs finale actually wrapped up in a satisfying way. not that it couldn't have been better, obviously, but apart from feeling rushed i think it was pretty much as strong and thoughtful a conclusion as they could have pulled off in five minutes like that. meanwhile everything else in the episode is equally rushed but seriously lacking in substance by comparison and i'm like... come on man. what are we doing here? what's this show called again i'm pretty sure it's not Graham Calloway
Now that i have thought about it for 3 years Uru Chan was actually so based for writing a character with ptsd that wasn't a caricature of a damsel in distress and had realistic symptoms no matter how unlikable it made him. You had half the fandom who wanted him to become the joker and half the fandom who hated his guts and girl never gave either side what they wanted. Uru Chan you legend.
lmao feelin called out here
