DeviantArt has never really been a parade of good advice for growing artists, but some particular “words of wisdom” are way more bothersome than others.

Hackers...
Hi, been a hot minute, but
its more of an instagram fiasco, however it wouldn’t hurt to post it here too.
All of this, for bitcoin and money. Greed is truly a horrid thing. Below are screenshots of this guys cashapp and the fake post he made on my friends account. I may be too hopeful, but I’m hoping they get caught and are also charged with identity theft. Pretending to be my friend to hack others he knows and those who follow him… I’m heated.
Be safe, guys.
Another thing, please just block the account if you have an instagram. My bud is in the process of getting it back, but all we can do to stop this guy in their tracks is block the account anywhere it goes.
the spring semester starts this week and i have four (4) required books to buy and they're not cheap. so here's a reminder that i have a kofi. all the money i get from there goes towards textbooks and tuition and, like, food. thanks and love u forever
the most life-changing customer i’ve ever had at work was a guy who came up to me and my coworker when we were at cash and said ‘hey kids…. wanna see something?’
and I said sure because why the fuck not, i’m here for a good time not a long time, and this motherfucker pulled a railroad spike out of his pocket.
A GODDAMN
ANTIQUE
RAILROAD
SPIKE
It was a fucking foot long chunk of steel that weighed about five pounds on its own so i was like ‘huh….. neat’
and he said ‘wait. there’s more’ and he took out a screwdriver. inlaid into the head of the spike. ‘things aren’t always as they appear’ he said as he unscrewed the bit and pulled out of this goddamn railroad spike
a statue
a tiny, tiny golden statue stood on the base of this flathead screw. it was a tiny golden man standing next to a tiny golden flower with gemstones in the petals. the whole thing was smaller than my thumbnail is tall. it was detailed enough that the tiny man had facial features. it was amazing.
‘oh my god,’ i said. ‘how long did it take you to make that?’
‘here’s a word of advice,’ he said, ‘never answer that question when people ask it. it devalues your work. you’ll get faster and better at things, and be able to make more art in less time. they don’t need to know about the process, just the product’.
and he left and that’s the one artistic piece of advice i definitely wanna hold to.
don’t tell people how long it takes to make shit.
From the heart of unimaginable suffering, I want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported my family 🙏🏻
Right now, famine is hitting us harder than ever, my heart cries whenever I go to the market to buy any basic necessities! The prices are crazy, and most days my children survive on just bread Hunger and thirst are destroying us, and cooking on fire increases our suffering unbearably! Severe eye and chest sensitivity, in addition to constant stomach pain due to the type of food and the way it is cooked.
All this while we flee from one place to another in fear of bombing, bullets, and imminent danger! I cannot describe what I feel, but it is a feeling beyond exhaustion!
Despite the exhaustion, your support gives us strength and I hope you will not let us down
If you can donate, please do so, or at least help us by sharing, so we can reach those who can
Your kindness truly keeps us going

So Shadow likes watching TV, ey? Hmm... Do you think he'd simply enjoy whatever's on the screen at the time, or do you think he'd be into more specific things? For example, nature documentaries (Anything narrated by David Attenborough) cartoons ( Like Tom and Jerry or Looney Tunes) dramas (Breaking Bad) or period pieces (Wolf Hall)?
I dunno, I think he'd probably just watch whatever. Maybe he'd be more into TCM.
The Golden Bat is Here (紙芝居昭和史 黄金バットがやって来る) [Lost 1972 Film] : Toho Studios : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive
A 1972 Toho “comedy” film, long considered lost, that depicts the rise and fall of the kamishibai (paper theatre) storytellers that were popular throughout Japan. Unfortunately, kamishibai was done in by the advent of television, although a few practitioners still keep the art form alive to this day.
The story of Golden Bat, arguably kamishibai’s biggest star, is interwoven amongst the tale of the men who wandered the streets entertaining children.
This film was previously considered lost, in that no copies seemed to exist outside of Toho’s vaults. For whatever reason, the film has never been released on home video.
Luckily, last month (February, 2025) Maxwell Breese released a copy he found on the Lost Media Wiki site, and now we can all watch it ourselves.
It helps if you’re fluent in Japanese, though, as the film is not dubbed or subtitled.
Here’s a quick snippet featuring my man, Golden Bat, as he originally appeared, battling his arch nemesis Nazo:

Doing an experiment: I have made a new nonfandomspecific blog for reblogs and conversations and etc. because I've come to be dissatisfied with my general internet persona being tied to the gimmick of 'LOTR character I didn't realize was quite that unpopular until it was too late'.* This blog will be reserved for its original gimmick from now on (such as: reblogging Grond), unless I give up. if you want the url to my new blog send an ask!
LOTR stuff will all stay here.
