I love alicent because of this! she knew what she wanted was not okay, that she was letting her anger and her child's pain control her. she knew that lucerys was just a child and didn't deserve to lose an eye, just like aemond did not deserve to lose an eye. I hate viserys, he should've brought justice to aemond in some way and not made alicent feel crazy for being angry about her child being hurt

alicent regretted her actions after she charged at luke, she apologized to viserys after he ignored her pleas to show some concern after aemond lost an eye, and she rejected larys’ offer to take an eye from luke….honestly she’s a saint because that couldn’t be me.

why do I keep reading 'paint me in your colors'? all it does is bring me pain. every time I read it, I just break out into tears because everyone is depressed and the writer is so good at portraying that. anyways new chapter is out!

I will always be on aemond and alicent's side when it comes to what happened at driftmark. everyone focusing more on luke and jace being called bastards then aemond losing a goddamn eye is the biggest bullshit ever!

thinking about how aemond actually did not have to bring in alicent into discussion at all. 

i mean, yes, she was the one person, the one parent, to take his side but the trauma of losing his eye to luke would have been enough for aemond to ask for luke’s eye as payment for his. he did not have to bring up his mother. and yet…

aemond choosing to say “i plan to make a gift of it to my mother”?? it screams of the fact that he did not forget about how fiercly she defended him, what could have happened to her and what did happen to her. how she had to beg for sympathy for him and how viserys humiliated her by not caring one bit about their child. 

he also remembered how viserys said “and let it be known, anyone whose tongue dares to question the birth of princess rhaenyra’s sons should have it removed.” and he made sure to respond to this and to jace’s and luke’s taunting by implying they are bastards. 

after losing an eye over an insult, to have viserys threaten to take his and aegon’s and alicent’s tongues? especially his mother’s who viserys was openly antagonizing? aemond was ready to put luke’s eye in a giftbox for her

i hope viserys is proud. regardless of what happened later, it was his ignorant crude and shameless nature that brought this war on.

"it was an accident, I swear it. I did not mean to-" aemond tries to say but gets cut off by y/n.

"you did not mean to? you ran after him with your WAR DRAGON and you believe you have the right to say that you did not mean to?" y/n screams at him, "aemond you have started a war that was not yours to start, you have made yourself a kinslayer and something that I thought impossible, you have made me despise you." y/n states.

if not familiar with y/n, it could be believed that they have completely shut off their emotions but aemond knows better, knows them better. he can see the pain in their eyes, the tears that they are holding back and they can see the tension in their body, as if holding back all the anger and grief. he can see that they are not trying to explode.

"y/n please, i was trying to stop her. she would not listen to me. lucerys' dragon struck first. he angered her." aemond begins to think of more excuses, tries to make her believe that he did not hold all the blame.

"enough!" y/n yells. "you are the only one to blame for this. you are the one that went after him, you are the one that was fueling vhagar's bloodlust. you went after a child believing that you could play hide and seek with a dragon, one that has seen more war and death we could ever believe." y/n stops and takes a breath. they look around as one tear rolls down their face as they collect themselves. y/n makes eye contact with aemond once more.

"aemond targaryen the kinslayer, i hope the gods punish you for what you have done, but I know that won't be enough for the pain you have caused. I want you to know that if I am given the chance, I will kill you myself. get out."

this type of scenario would not leave my head. this is one my first times writing fanfiction, and i wrote it in like 20 mins so please let me know what you guys think!

i have seen people say that "heartstopper is shit because it is made by an aroace woman". and i get the whole ownvoices thing, it's important that people get to tell their own stories. but pretending that heartstopper is immediatly bad and problematic just because the creator of a story focusing on mlm is an aroace person is just ridiculous. the same happened to the writer of simon vs the homosapiens agenda. she was, first of all, harrassed for 'being straight' and she later came out as bi. but ppl still thought she had no buisiness at all writing about a gay man

a lesbian can write a beautiful and meaningful story about a bisexual man, a trans man can write an acurate story about a nonbinary person. every community deserves to tell their own stories, but just bc sometimes other ppl write stories about them doesn't mean these stories are bad and morally wrong and inaccurate

BUT ON TOP OF THAT the producer (patrick walters) and director (euros lynn) of the show are both gay men (and many other people working behind the scenes are queer as well, it's just a bunch of queer ppl). these gay men got to be in charge of directing and producing the show. these people put their visions on this story. this is not a random person trying to guess what the mlm experience is like. alice really does understand it, and they're now working directly with ppl who have that lived experience

also side note can ppl please stop invalidating alice....i've even seen people saying that they're not even queer and shouldn't be writing any queer stories. i saw one post saying something like "she's just an asexual woman who uses sometimes they/them". alice is queer. aromantic and asexual people are queer. and please stop invalidating they/them pronouns and pretending people use those pronouns just for attention

i love the subtle references to other books within the osemanverse. like, in radio silence, frances says the phrase “i was born for this,” and in iwbft, jimmy uses tori’s catchphrase, “it’s funny because it’s true.” we hear a reference to ‘universe city’ in loveless and catch wisps of nick and charlie’s story in solitaire.

the interconnectedness makes it all feel so much more real— every “background character” is human, every international legend is too. they’re all deeply flawed, but are just trying to do more good than harm. they all feel like everyone has it all so much more together than they do. they all laugh and break and cry and fail and apologize and love, truly love. in their respective tales they may feel like they are alone, but this little web of stories shows us that they truly are not.
