I really....really love this game. So much that I would ask my dad to borrow his laptop to play this game late at night while they were sleeping (since it had better specs than my old one...mine kept crashing T_T).
There were a number of memorable moments in game...and I name a few...
1. UNITED FORCES UPDATE (AKA MASSIVE SERVER MERGE) : I was a member of Ruinous Guild (EMPIRE), one of the biggest guilds of the former Harbinger server... And we were reunited with other members of our sister guilds from other servers inside our guild flagship. We did our shinenigans for group picture taking...some RPing (unfortunately I am quite an introvert even in game) But I had fun meeting new faces and perks of the "other club"
2. Knights of The Fallen Empire / Knights of the Eternal Throne stories : What I like in SWTOR, STORY QUESTS! And for me, nothing is as good as KoTFE and KoTET expansions (since I can replay them and experience the story again, unlike class, Flashpoint stories.)
(Note: includes Iokath and Nathema FP pics)
3. WORKING HARD FOR BETTER STRONGHOLD and DECORATIONS : When I first played my game...I remember owning starter strongholds from capital planets. One guild member invited me in their beautiful Nar Shaddaa Stronghold I got envious of his in-game wealth and dedication to design them (i was an F2P that time...so I was basically a beggar inside his "mansion")
But even so, I did try gathering my resources until such time I got my very first subscriber status (i think after 3 years of playing on-off) that lasted 6 months. And I got my dream house.
*goodbye 50 million credits!
And there were more unforgetable moments not listed here, such as the steep competition of PvP... (that I whacked my brains to devise a strategy...to sit on a corner while earning "defender" points doing NOTHING but watch my teammates outdo each other for kill counts. Just kidding tho)
...queing and grinding KUAT DRIVE YARD and HAMMER STATION FLASHPOINTS, especially during double xp week...got to max those toons to earn special gear!
...and OPERATIONS...YOU GOT TO LOVE THEM especially when it was your first time...
...LOVE THEIR EARFUL ARGUMENTS over the CHAT, I mean...love them when they go berserk and give you a piece of their mind while you laugh (secretly) at their own measly skills, but I won't discuss that.
On the whole, this game had brought me good memories and I would live to play again...
Perhaps I am writing this to remind my "future" self that should I have the time to go back and play PC games...I should return to this game.
AFTER ALL, I NEED TO GET BACK THOSE MILLIONS OF CREDITS I SPENT! Hehehe!
Is Oda Nobutaka's death poem historical? If so, why isn't it brought up more often? It seems like a pretty damning condemnation of Hideyoshi for Honnoji.
In the first place you were mistaken: It has absolutely nothing to do with Honnouji. Nobutaka’s death poem was tied to the succession conflict after Honnouji. Despite the Kiyosu Conference concluding with the decision of electing Sanboushi (Nobutada’s son) to become the new clan head, Hideyoshi did things that offended Nobutaka, and war was waged.
The actual poem:
昔より主を討つ身の野間なれば報いを待てや羽柴筑前
mukashi yorishū o utsu mi noNoma narebamukui o mateyaHashiba Chikuzen*
If it must be Nomawhere men killed their lordin ancient days, await your own comeuppance!Hashiba Chikuzen (Hideyoshi)
I’m assuming you were talking about this “lord” in the poem. This referred to the Heian era samurai Minamoto no Yoshitomo, who was betrayed by his vassals and died in Noma. He was buried in the very same temple Nobutaka committed seppuku. So this “lord” reference doesn’t mean Nobunaga, but Nobutaka himself.
Tokugawa vassals’ communication in the following year also had referred to Nobunaga’s sons as Hideyoshi’s “lords”. A letter sent out by Sakakibara Yasumasa condemned Hideyoshi for being ungrateful to his former masters, as he was “not satisfied with killing just one lord” (Nobutaka), but is now also trying to go after the other one (Nobukatsu).
About whether or not the death poem is REAL, it’s entirely debatable. There’s two different poems recorded, and the second one does not mention Hideyoshi at all.
たらちねの 名をばくださじ 梓弓 いなばの山の 露と消ゆとも
Translation/interpretation for this cannot be found. For what it’s worth, the parts I do understand say this: “Mother’s name [ばくださじ]/Cherry birch bow/The dew of Mount Inaba fades”.
Both poems are found in Edo era records, and no contemporary copies were ever discovered so far. There’s no way to verify that this is an accurate copy especially if it’s second-hand documentation***.
Part of the reason for it to be considered “weird” is because the one who ambushed Nobutaka and brought the order of seppuku was his own brother Nobukatsu. Why would Nobutaka be angry at Hideyoshi and not his brother? There’s a bit of difficulty in determining what Nobukatsu’s status here, but at any rate, it can’t be immediately assumed that Nobutaka is upset with Hideyoshi because his brother is for some reason serving Hideyoshi.
There’s a possibility that while bringing down the order Nobukatsu said bad things about Hideyoshi, but there’s also a bigger chance that the poem itself is recorded wrong or fake.
***) This matters because the Shinchoukouki, considered the most reliable account of Nobunaga, is also technically an Edo-era record (compiled in 1600s). However the author Ota Gyuuichi is an eyewitness, so the text is considered mostly accurate due to being a first hand account. The only problem being that if this was written much later, he might have forgotten the specifics, or got details mixed up

Slight Canon Divergence. Behind the scenes that occur in Hideyoshi MS, but in Maeda Toshiie’s POV.
What were Toshiie’s thoughts after he was exiled by Lord Nobunaga?
Toshiie hated waiting.
And thus, he sparred with a lone training dummy in the middle of the courtyard in an effort to improve his martial skills, despite knowing that most of his peers cannot best him. Dusk was falling, and the next day, the army would set off towards the battlefield. None of his former mentor’s retainers went out to train along with him in order to get ready for the upcoming war.
For months the young man had prepared himself for the big event; one that would determine his fate as a samurai. He had trained with his former colleagues, participated in mock battles together with the regiment of Lord Shibata Katsuie, one of the senior retainers of Oda clan and Toshiie’s former teacher. And even though the young man was “officially” a ronin for incurring the wrath of his former liege lord, he is still well-respected; enough to warrant a warm welcome within the estate of the lord commander, who treats the youth like his own son.
When evening falls, there will sometimes be sudden torrential rains. The skies were overcast and Toshiie could see dark heavy clouds shrouded the dignified Kiyosu castle from afar like a cage. His rain-soaked purple kimono swayed languidly everytime he moves that the top hem of his robes started to become undone. He adjusted it afterwards. He could hear the trees rustling due to the strong winds that passed them by.
Despite the downpour, however, Toshiie didn’t stop his exercises. He could hear the loud clack whenever his weapon hit the dummy, and whooshing sounds as he maneuvered his practice spear. For a moment, his focus was on his target. The next, however, his mind began to wander as he recalled some of his memories. He gripped his weapon hard that his knuckles went white as his past flashed before his eyes like an old painting.

When a hot new NPC saved MC from a Perv…
MC BE LIKE:

…but when THAT NPC turns out to be the worst villain (who is also a perv)…
PLAYERS BE LIKE:
How did Tadakatsu, Kageie, Yasumasa, and Tadatsugu die?
There is a legend that Tadakatsu died after injuring his hand from carving. If this story is true, he might have fallen ill from the infected wound. If not true, then presumably he died of age.
It was said that Kageie was executed by Kenshin. The story has it that he had sold a horse to Nobunaga, and Kenshin suspected treason. ETA: This was apparently considered a legend, and the official account of his death is due to disease.
Yasumasa seems to have contracted a disease and died of it. Tadatsugu died normally from age.
Heyy thanks for the tag :)
Ieyasu (7) is INDEED nasty in namecalling MC but he had some good (if not complicated) side of him. TBH not what I expect for the one who waits, but he did try to wore out MC's patience (and failed). Still, their backtaking episode was GOOD.
Hide (6) is Kind and Charming as usual, but I kind of know how he works; sometimes come off as manipulative off-screen. But for someone who made the cuckoo sing, his actions are understandable. And the best monent was how he responded to Inichiyo when he discovered who wrote that letter.
Nobu (5) is NOT easy if I were in MCs shoes, imagine being forced to marry just like that...and all because he wanted a cook? Haha. Nope. But it would have been better if MC made some a little bit more resistance to him (and see how Nobu goes about rhat in full measure). Anyways, knowing his character, the story did paint Nobu as such a very forceful "you will be my wife whether you like it or not" suitor.
MC as the cuckoo in that famous samurai cuckoo saying… I definitely liked the premise of the event. And here’s what I thought of the contents, in increasing order of happiness!
Ieyasu’s story starts out on a bizarre note: when MC visits his temporary shop because of his random love letter, his goons capture her and Yahiko (poor Y gets rope burns…!), he proposes marriage sweetly, MC calls him out on his fake bullshit, and he reverts to his pissy, insulting self. The guy spends the next few weeks visiting MC’s restaurant, not eating anything, and calling MC stupid. And because MC’s a masochist and highly susceptible to reverse psychology, she works way harder to impress his picky palate than I personally would’ve… Eventually Ieyasu asks MC to move back with him, gets pissy when she doesn’t immediately accept, and disappears for months so that MC can wallow in angst, before coming back and sweeping her away.
…Ugh. WTF did I just read? Why did Ieyasu even like MC in the first place?! He claims he saw her working and instantly fell in love, but that’s BS and his motivations are unclear. And why did MC want to impress this rude idiot anyway? In this story Ieyasu deserves a punch to the face, not delicious food and true love. I hated it. Ieyasu fans may disagree, but I personally can’t stand his stupid “poison smile” right now. ^_^
Personal enjoyment: 1/10
In this story it’s clear that Hideyoshi’s been harboring a crush on MC for a while because she’s “cute and hardworking.” Giving Inichiyo an aneurysm with his flirty tactics is simply a plus for this charmer. MC’s shy, but he spends his days allowing himself to be friend zoned and being nice to her and helping with groceries and such. And making MC jealous with his perfumes handkerchieves and fixing women’s sandals, but hey, we always knew this guy was a rogue, lol. In the end, right before he gives up on MC forever, he realizes that MC’s jealousy stems from mutual feelings, and the story ends on a hopeful note (“Perhaps this doesn’t have to be the end of things just yet?”).
I thought H was pretty likeable in this event personally, but as with Ieyasu, I found his romantic motivations to be unclear. How was it possible he had a crush on MC if he’d never talked to her before? What made her so special, besides plot reasons?! In any case, I don’t love jealousy plots and the story itself was pretty simplistic imho, but H was sweet and I thought it wasn’t too bad overall.
Personal enjoyment: 5.5/10
Nobunaga’s ES starts out in a classically Nobunaga-ish fashion, with the guy demanding marriage from MC out of nowhere. And MC’s having none of it! He eventually reveals he actually wanted MC for her one-of-a-kind cooking skills, lmfao. Of course. This makes total sense 😂. Anyway, Nobunaga drags MC to hang out several times during his stay in Kyoto, and the pair eventually do grow genuine feeelings for each other over sugar-fueled dates. The guy comes back from a battle to rescue MC at a critical moment, confesses his final reason for wanting MC (“because I couldn’t think of dying and leaving you behind”), and everyone lives happily ever after.
Nobunaga is an absolute treat when he’s not hurting anyone with his ridiculous antics, and he was definitely in fine form in this story! He gives off strong YA novel love interest vibes with his stupid imperiousness (that MC doesn’t take seriously thank goodness), and I am A-ok with that, lol. I also liked how his motivations were clear throughout the entire story! Overall, I thought this ES was delightful to read and it was definitely my favorite of the lot.
Personal enjoyment: 9/10
All in all, I wouldn’t say this was my favorite event, but I came in with no expectations so from that perspective it could’ve been worse.
If you want another (more thirsty, lol) perspective you should check out @aedysa’s recap! I have no idea how to link on mobile though ^_^
Anyway, what did you all think of this event? :)
