Faust’s Dream by Carl Gustav Carus (German, 1789–1869)
Happy ace day!! Hooray!
"I walked out of the hall, making my way through drunk, sleeping bodies, stumbled outside and suddenly saw a wonderfully clear starry sky.
It was bitterly cold, but I was so hot I spent at least twenty minutes gazing at the stars. On the horizon, the light dome of a brightly lit cement works towered up into the night sky like a fairy tale castle. Inside, I could hear Mayhem all the way out here. It was a perfect moment!
I stood alone under the heavens with music composed precisely for such moments! And the moment I heard Dead's voice: "When it's cold and when it's dark, the freezing moon can obsess you!", two shooting stars crossed Orion's belt as if the gods were disarmed. It seemed to me that the moon would shine even colder this evening." - Abo Alsleben ("Wie ich den Black Metal nach Ostdeutschland brachte") 🦇

Four tracks showcasing the agonized depths of traumatic perseverance. Eerie ambience intermixed with drudging, pounding despondency and venomous retaliation. The album is loneliness, despair, disgust, and hatred sculpted by tormented screams, steadily crashing drums, macabre samples and haunting bass. Simultaneously desolate and claustrophobic, it's an abyss that glares back at the listener.
It can be purchased via Bandcamp, Profound Lore Records, and the band's website.
“This was July 12th. The summer of 1978. The first day of camp. A week later my sister was dead.”
