1800s sex be like
*helps you out of a carriage* *unties your coat laces for you* *touches your ungloved hand* *avoids you at a ball*
It’s Barricade Day so time for another emotional watching Les Mis!
i really am living out my dark academic les mis vibes life rn aren’t i???
studying history, literature, classics and politics ?! at a new college where i know very little people and very little people know me?!

My dream home is either:
An ancient Greek temple where I may receive prophetic visions
A gothic cathedral with plenty of alluring vampires
An old library filled with first-edition books
A forest clearing with many friendly cicadas trying to eat me
A quiet manor in the English countryside with ivy creeping up the walls
Wherever the ghost of Shakespeare lives
PEN PALS
I’m looking for a pen pal preferably in the U.K. but I’m okay with elsewhere.

Hi, can some of yous leave recommendation’s for fiction books on/about female obsession
“you make my heart beat in iambic pentameter.”
no you don’t understand shakespeare literally writes to the beat of your heart
that’s why shakespearean actors will sometimes pound their chests in time to the words during readings
that’s why you use fluctuations in the rhythm to track your character’s emotional state - any irregularities in the scansion are like the character’s heart stuttering or jumping or skipping a beat
that’s why when characters share the rhythm - switching off in the middle of a foot - those characters inevitably have an extraordinarily intimate connection
shakespeare fucking writes viscerally, he is literally in your body, and that, my friend, that is why the best shakespearean actors don’t posture and emote
you have to be fucking alive and passionate and electric - it can’t be intellectual, in the end, it has to be about connection and the sweating, cheering, jeering, bleeding masses you’re performing to, because make no mistake, shakespeare may go to lofty heights, but he only works if you’re just as grounded in the earth. he has to be in your body. he has to be in your body.
holy motherfucking shit i love shakespeare so much, get him in your bones, breathe him in, stomp and rage and pine, dadum dadum dadum dadum dadum, it is literally to the beat of your heart
Oh I really do enjoy how the 2020s are shaping up to be a lot like the 1920s. You get a generation of lost kids that grew up during a war. They reject their parents conservative attitudes. The youth has created a resurgence of Dadaism and Nihilism that the older generations don’t understand. An artistic boom replacing the materialistic tendencies of our parents. The queer community is thriving in a way that it hasent been in years. Activism and socialist ideologies are on the rise again. How wonderful. It makes me want to go to Paris and be the next Gertrude Stein
i have a book i bought for £2 in this amazing bookshop in my mum’s hometown and i discovered its 105 years old, from the Cambridge printing press, it’s a collection of Percy Shelley poems AND it has little annotations on some poems and i love it so much
