Chat I’m going crazy
Here's a fun one. When I was worldbuilding for Mas y Manos way way way back when, I made some pages of a fake travel diary, as if a visiting artist were making a book for future tourists by drawing his experiences. I still like these pages about the public transit.
This is one of those things where I put in too much effort for something only I would care about haha, but I still love them so I'm okay with it.

STUFF I'VE GOTTEN BY PUTTING IN RANDOM CODES I KNOW FROM THE BOOK!!!!
(there is also blanchin, bill and axolotl that work)
EDIT!!!!! INSERTING "EVEN HIS LIES ARE LIES" GIVES YOU THIS:
EXTRA EXTRA NOTICE: inserting "well well well being" gives you this:
ANOTHER EDIT!!!! INSERTING "suck it merlin" gives you the following image, i'm about to decode what the message says.
edit: it says "daymare vs nightmare"
EDIT: typing in "just fit in" gives you a weird video with static at the end. I think it's bills voice? he sounds sad.
EDIT: typing in "tantrum" gives you something EXTREMELY interesting!
edit: typing "paper is book skin" gave me skin. i am not joking. it literally just gave me skin in clip studio paint... thanks bill?
edit: typing in "baby bill" gives you this (papa? wait does this mean that it's the men who give birth in bill's dimension or wh- WHAT DOES THIS IMPLY....)
Edit: hi guys. I know about a lot of the other codes. Though there are a few people who have told me ones I don't know in my replies so thanks for that!! (PS: I also wonder what typing in the code on the candle does once the flame has turned blue. Does anything change at all? Could someone check that?)
Also to add on, I've discovered that the word "volume" doesn't give you the big glaring X screen, but it also doesnt seem to do anything either? Either I'm experiencing some sort of glitch or this means something more. Could someone look into this? I'd really appreciate it!
ADDITIONAL EDIT: FORDTRAMARINE WORKS!!!
guys who tf defeated silas birchtree
OKAY SO some people on reddit found that typing in "You can't kill an idea" gives you this:
i swear on god i've inspected this thing countless times.
i've noticed that some of the letters on the bottom have strange inner-outlines. i've tried to find out what it means but i've come at a COMPLETE ROADBLOCK. istg silas birchtree when i FIND YOU
EDIT: also, the name "IOWA 1951" sounds really suspicious. i think it's a location name?
??? searching up stuff on google and i found this. Does this mean anything??? DOES ANYTHING MEAN ANYTHING??? maybe 1951 isn't part of some address but is actually a year where a competition took place?
SHE??? AM I STUPID OR AM I COOKING (honestly really unsure about bringing an actual person into this)
i'm really sceptical on this "miss iowa" beauty pageant stuff actually having something to do with anything in this whole mess, but the way it's phrased in the pamphlet...
"Miss Iowa 1951 (Isn't she gorgeous?)"
the "isn't she gorgeous" makes me feel like it DOES have some sort of correlation with the BEAUTY pageant
i'm about to pull my hair out of my skull
EDIT: i feel like every step i take to crack this stupid code brings me closer to getting SOMETHING but at the same time so much farther. (also i'm about to start rambling so stay with me here. Either i'm gonna sound like a genius {of some degree} or like a blubbering idiot with a cone for a head, also the good-ol' language disability is NOT gonna help with my following explanations here so hang with me now.)
Something i've noticed: Literally everything Silas says about his life makes absolutely zero sense and doesn't add up.
He got facial cancer and got hit by a train, making him unable to perform jitterbugs, at three years old? Was he performing jitterbugs before then?
He says he's from Kansas whilst from what i've researched, the person who "Miss Iowa 1951" is, aka his supposed "wife", has no evidence of ever being in Kansas.
And why does he need 400$ donations? Isn't this dude already a millionaire?
The more i piece together the more i think: "Wait. Since it's clear that ""Honest"" Silas Birchtree, isn't truly honest, it's pretty clear that he IS a corpse currently in possession of Bill Cipher. Could his supposed "Defeat", be a referring to what killed him before possession, or to what defeated his possessed corpse?"
And since his name is "honest" Silas Birchtree, perhaps something in the code "lies" could help? Since lies is the opposite of truth?
kinda getting a few cracks form in my sense of reality but PERHAPS this could lead us somewhere? The fact Bill mentions that "Humans care about anything that makes them feel good" in the "lies" thingy. Perhaps this could have some sort of correlation with Silas's story, because his "story" does end up sounding like the "ideal" life. Being fully healed after serious injuries, winning a million dollars, and getting married to a beauty pageant contestant.
GAAHH nothing i'm saying makes sense! Nothing i'm thinking makes sense! NOTHING ABOUT THIS MAKES SENSE! MAYBE THAT'S WHAT DEFEATED SILAS??? SENSE?? COMPREHENSIBILITY??? I'M LOSING MY MIND
Edit: from this point forward, whenever I hear the word "birch" muttured near me I will get immediate flashbacks to me ferociously gnawing at my keyboard shaking foaming at the mouth
Edit: yknow come to think of it, is Silas birchtree even this guy's name??? Silas means woods/forest... And birchtree sounds like pinetree, but with birch trees. And birch trees have always had a strong link with Bill cipher. Did Bill just possess some random corpse and create a fake name on the spot using terms that were familiar to him???? And then just slapped on a bunch of backstory for this dude in order to advertise his cult or whatever hence why all information we have on this individual makes NO SENSE
Edit: OK so I'm not here to make an update on birchwood sorray but I just wanted to say that a NEW CODE HAS BEEN FOUND!!! (Unsure who found it, if someone tells me their name I'll make sure to credit them)
code: DIONARAP ! The backwards of paranoid!!!
Check it for yourself!!!
EDIT: OKAY SO I'VE NOTICED THAT ON THE DIONARAP CODE THINGY, there are these little 2-letter thingies hidden about. Perhaps if we can find them all it'll lead to another code or secret message?
Currently i've found: OC, OD and ST
(ps: i love the tumblr sexyman diss. GET HIS ASS BILL!!! EXPLODE THAT TWINK!!!!)
(also ps: i really appreciate the help but you guys don't need to tell me about older codes, i know like basically all of them. Heads up on new ones are appreciated though!!!)
ADDITIONAL EDIT:!!! (also realised there's also EHT hidden in the image {it's upside-down}, so i guess it's not always 3 letters? EHT could also just be "THE" backwards)
oh and RIGHT!! THIS GUY!!! If you followed burnside's twitter, you'd notice that the countdown images he used to anticipate the release of the book of bill all had this symbol in it, perhaps we can find out what it means, because i think it leads to something bigger
EDIT: nvm i forgot that it's just the artist's signature nevamind
EDIT: found another! TCE!
here's what we've got currently. (letters in blue are the same as above red, just backwards) Maybe the message is all the letters flipped backwards and put together? The code to get this thing is PARANOID backwards after all!
EDIT: FOUND "NN"! guess you don't really need to flip that one
EDIT!!! JUST FOUND OUT WHAT IT MEANS!!!
"CONNECT THE DOTS"
unfortunately you can't use it as a code on the computer, but does it mean something else?
NEVERMIND!! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO FLIP IT BACKWARDS AGAIN
NEW CODE!!!!: STOD EHT TCENNOC!!!
FEELING SO SMART RN (edit: apparently some people have found it before me. whoops!)
MOTHERFUCKER SILAS BIRCHTREE I AM APPROACHING YOUR LOCATION FAST
WHEN I GET YOUR FUCKING ASS
THE ANSWER TO WHO DEFEATED SILAS BIRCHTREE IS EMMALINE BUTTERNUBBINS FUCK YEAAAAAAAAAAAAH
it just gave me a 98mb file what the fuck
THE FILE CONTAINS FULL IMAGES FROM THE BOOK!!!
also code!! yippee
it means: kook.
oh we already knew that one
ooh this one has bill burning an ace of spades card. wonder if that means anything
EDIT: THIS ISN'T IN THE BOOK. WHAT DOES "NO Y" MEAN?
edit: i forgot to read the last page of the newspaper article whoops
there's a code
translates to: you cant kill an idea
we already know what the code for this gives us
blank wall once again
WAIT IF WERE ONLY SUPPOSED TO FIND THE CODE TO THE PAMPHLET THING UNTIL AFTER YOU FIND OUT WHO DEFEATED SILAS THEN DOESN'T THAT MEAN THAT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO FIND SOMETHING ELSE ON IT???? ARE YOU KIDDING ME (ps: no i do not think it's "say baaaa", say baaa isn't on the pamphlet the site gives you, say baaa is from the book.)
edit: forgot to mention this. "dispense my treat" gives you a butt-ton of images containing full pngs from pages of the book. the only full image that had never been in the book is titled "REMEMBER THE BERMUDA TRIANGLE". Which is a direct reference to the end of tbob, where bill is wiping your memory and asks if you remember the "bermuda triangle"
i'm assuming that somehow, there's a code that leads to us finding the full version of the lost page that could contain some text. This i am unsure of, and it appears that i've reached my 30-image only limit on this post. So perhaps i'm going to end this little thing soon or start a new one. I might make a few more edits that contain some text though. Thanks for sticking with me and my ramblings for so long! hahahah
Disclaimer: Though I have been using a cane for 6 years, I am not a doctor, nor am I by any means an expert. This guide is true to my experience, but there are as many ways to use a cane as there are cane users!
This guide will not include: White canes for blindness, crutches, walkers, or wheelchairs as I have no personal experience with these.
This is meant to be a general guide to get you started and avoid some common mishaps/misconceptions, but you absolutely should continue to do your own research outside of this guide!
The biggest recurring problem I've seen is using the cane on the wrong side. The cane goes on the opposite side of the pain! If your character has even-sided pain or needs it for balance/weakness, then use the cane in the non-dominant hand to keep the dominant hand free. Some cane users also switch sides to give their arm a rest!
A cane takes about 20% of your weight off the opposite leg. It should fit within your natural gait and become something of an extension of your body. If you need more weight off than 20%, then crutches, a walker, or a wheelchair is needed.
Putting more pressure on the cane, using it on the wrong side, or having it at the wrong height will make it less effective, and can cause long term damage to your body from improper pressure and posture. (Hugh Laurie genuinely hurt his body from years of using a cane wrong on House!)
(an animated GIF of a cane matching the natural walking gait. It turns red when pressure is placed on it.)
When going up and down stairs, there is an ideal standard: You want to use the handrail and the cane at the same time, or prioritize the handrail if it's only on one side. When going up stairs you lead with your good leg and follow with the cane and hurt leg together. When going down stairs you lead with the cane, then the good leg, and THEN the leg that needs help.
Realistically though, many people don't move out of the way for cane users to access the railing, many stairs don't have railings, and many are wet, rusty, or generally not ideal to grip.
In these cases, if you have a friend nearby, holding on to them is a good idea. Or, take it one step at a time carefully if you're alone.
Now we come to a very common mistake I see... Using fashion canes for medical use!
(These are 4 broad shapes, but there is INCREDIBLE variation in cane handles. Research heavily what will be best for your character's specific needs!)
The handle is the contact point for all the weight you're putting on your cane, and that pressure is being put onto your hand, wrist, and shoulder. So the shape is very important for long term use!
Knob handles (and very decorative handles) are not used for medical use for this reason. It adds extra stress to the body and can damage your hand to put constant pressure onto these painful shapes.
The weight of a cane is also incredibly important, as a heavier cane will cause wear on your body much faster. When you're using it all day, it gets heavy fast! If your character struggles with weakness, then they won't want a heavy cane if they can help it!
This is also part of why sword canes aren't usually very viable for medical use (along with them usually being knob handles) is that swords are extra weight!
However, a small knife or perhaps a retractable blade hidden within the base might be viable even for weak characters.
Bases have a lot of variability as well, and the modern standard is generally adjustable bases. Adjustable canes are very handy if your character regularly changes shoe height, for instance (gotta keep the height at your hip!)
Canes help on most terrain with their standard base and structure. But for some terrain, you might want a different base, or to forego the cane entirely! This article covers it pretty well.
Many cane users decorate their canes! Stickers are incredibly common, and painting canes is relatively common as well! You'll also see people replacing the standard wrist strap with a personalized one, or even adding a small charm to the ring the strap connects to. (nothing too large, or it gets annoying as the cane is swinging around everywhere)
(my canes, for reference)
If your character uses a cane full time, then they might also have multiple canes that look different aesthetically to match their outfits!
When it comes to practical things outside of the cane, you reasonably only have one hand available while it's being used. Many people will hook their cane onto their arm or let it dangle on the strap (if they have one) while using their cane arm, but it's often significantly less convenient than 2 hands. But, if you need 2 hands, then it's either setting the cane down or letting it hang!
For this reason, optimizing one handed use is ideal! Keeping bags/items on the side of your free hand helps keep your items accessible.
When sitting, the cane either leans against a wall or table, goes under the chair, or hooks onto the back of the chair. (It often falls when hanging off of a chair, in my experience)
When getting up, the user will either use their cane to help them balance/support as they stand, or get up and then grab their cane. This depends on what it's being used for (balance vs pain when walking, for instance!)
That's everything I can think of for now. Thank you for reading my long-but-absolutely-not-comprehensive list of things to keep in mind when writing or drawing a cane user!
Happy disability pride month! Go forth and make more characters use canes!!!

Who and Grinch.
Whos are highly social. Grinches are more solitary, but can be acclimated to Who societies, especially if imprinted.
Whos enjoy an extensive culinary history, whereas Grinches remain disease-resistant scavengers into advancement.
With the bill cipher aus of him coming back to earth/gravity falls powerless, or any au of him interacting with the characters, I always see him drawn to be small, like hand-held small. I think it would be quite silly to draw him “man-sized” like has to go through doors sideways and does not fit on standard bed size.
