i will cook more in depth later but after going through all of nishikis y0 and kiwami scenes the fundamental difference between nishiki and majima seems to be that majima believes in himself and his capability to protect his loved ones from harm where nishiki feels utterly helpless. that's it. confidence. that's the difference. this makes nishiki avoid fights he thinks he will lose (read: most of them) and majima pick and win fights he would otherwise lose. and i think majima is able to do this where nishiki isn't because he doesn't give a fuck about his own survival. no emotional attachment to his own wellbeing. having reached that level of detachment frees him and makes him more powerful, exactly like kiryu
