Thank You So Much, I'm So Glad You (and She) Like It!

Hi there! Who do you think Elena wanted to choose before chosing her grandfather to dance with her?

I think Francisco was her first choice from the beginning, and if she didn't choose Francisco she probably would have chosen Isabel or Luisa. (Or possibly Esteban, but I feel like she probably decided who she wanted to dance with long before she had forgiven him).

Being crowned was a very important moment for Elena and while she cares about both her friends and family, she just gave her friends job promotions, which means she'll probably get to see them all for work-related things. But she probably won't get to see her family quite as much being Queen, so it was quite a nice gesture dancing her Abuelo instead of one of them

And even if none of her family members were there, I don't think she would have chosen Mateo, Gabe, or Naomi for a very certain reason. You see, in the song “Fit to be Queen” Gabe & Mateo both seem very keen about dancing with her. But the thing is whether you believe that either of them or just one of them or neither of them have a crush on her, the fact is they both wanted to dance with her. And they seem to view her choice as a choice between the 2 of them (when it wasn't).

It seemed to me like a resurgence of their rivalry from "Party of a Lifetime," where they were fighting over who was her "best" best friend. And I know they've fought with each other about other things since that episode but never about how much Elena liked them. I mean Elena just cringed away from both of them and put their hands together instead of holding either one of them. Because whether you believe she has a crush on either of them or neither of them, she recognizes this could become a point of contention between them.

If Elena had chosen Naomi, Gabe and Mateo could possibly have also taken that personally and added Naomi to their rivalry. (Don't get me wrong I don't think that they would be annoyed about it forever, but they might make a rash decision in the short term because of it.)

I do Headcanon that Elena probably danced with all 3 of them at some point during the coronation. It's just that since the “most important” dance was the first dance, she dedicated that one to her family instead.

Princess Elena

Favorite thing about them: That she's fun and friendly but also willing to throw hands. Sure, I like sweet cute princesses as much as the next person but it just feels good for her to be able to fight back as well. Her kindness and diplomacy also balance this out really well. She'll be accommodating and try to see things from other people's perspectives, and oftentimes that'll be enough to solve the problem. But if they're being truly awful and unfair then she’s not afraid to stand up for herself and others.

Least favorite thing about them: Her political policies when it comes to incarcerating and/or punishing criminals.* (Except for Shuriki, that was self-defense and justified).

Favorite line: "I don't need to be one of the kings, because I'm going to be a QUEEN!"

BrOTP: Well the 3 amigos immediately come to mind but I also believe that her friendship with Skyler is something that really can't be overlooked. He's there for her whenever she needs to pursue bad guys or just go for a nice fly.

Random headcanon: Elena has always loved horses, and ever since she was little she's always loved riding and brushing them. Another shock that came to her after liberating Avalor was the realization that all the horses that she'd had as a child 41 years ago were now all gone. She was devastated but nevertheless she would need to choose a new horse to be her personal one now that she was crown princess. When she went to the stables a certain horse immediately came up to Elena and started rubbing against her and tried to eat her hair flowers. Elena laugthed and told the horse that she couldn't have those flowers but she could give the horse some different ones. She brushed the horse's hair and decorated it with the new flowers which made the horse very happy. After that Elena knew that this was the horse for her and named her Canela.

Unpopular opinion: *I could rant all day about this, so I'll keep this brief. The palace dungeon looks like it is designed as a series of holding cells and doesn't seem fit to hold someone for any longer than a week. Also while it was never confirmed in the show one way or the other if they would have kept Victor petrified indefinitely if they didn't need him for a practical purpose, the very fact that that could be possible unnerves me. Now while it may not have not have been solely Elena's fault considering the bureaucracy, she never said anything against it either, which does not bode well for me. But this doesn't make me dislike her as a character or label her as a villain, if anything this just shows that even the best rulers can make mistakes.

I mentioned that political stuff in the last post but somehow I forgot to mention Naomi! Since she’s Chancellor, she's in the middle of the kingdom's politics, so she'd be at Elena's side for all those possible incidents, giving her advice and support. 

Naomi finally getting to travel around as Chancellor and visit the other kingdoms on political business would be nice. Because then she could live her dream of sailing around the world even more, but she'd be earning money while doing it. Plus, she has Elena by her side so it's a win-win-win!

Also, I want to see her hire a staff and establish more government positions in the Kingdom. I mean who's even maintaining Nuva Vista now that Cristobal is gone? So she sets up a more detailed federal and municipal government systems that are still ultimately ruled by Elena but now the people can be heard even better. Because the Queen just can't be everywhere at once, even if she has magic. (Now that I'm thinking about it, she would probably try an “everywhere at once” spell first before they did this). I would find it entertaining, but most people probably wouldn't so it would likely be done in the form of multiple upbeat musical montages, or off screen. 

For Mateo, I'd like to see him teaching his magic classes. Maybe him leading the guards in a training exercise on how to properly use magic against villains, monsters, or natural disasters. (More of Mateo fighting stuff with cool magic). Plus Mateo training Olivia, Carla, and Victor on how to help people using magic. Just a whole episode where they're just going around town and solving problems with magic, (and at one point they sing a cool theme song they've made up for themselves in an 80s style montage)!

 It would also be fascinating to watch Mateo learning more complex Master Level spells. Maybe even the most elusive one of all, a healing spell! Perhaps he could go through an arc where he finds more permanent solutions to some of their monster problems. Keeping the monsters in jars & books only means that eventually they might escape, and then you'll just have to hunt them down again. So why not find a way to safely reform them? Kizin could get to see his friends again!

This is a Secret Santa gift I made for someone on a Discord server.

This is a doll I made of Spinel from Steven Universe as a gift for my friend @foxtrotparadox​! 

She is made out of felt, yarn (I braided it to make her arms) and thread which I sewed together. I made all the patters for her myself. 

Overall, she was really fun to make! (The first two photos are ones that I took, and the second two are Lily’s)
