The Infrared Universe - NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope

NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope celebrated its 12th anniversary with the release of a new digital calendar showcasing some of the best pictures taken by the telescope. The images above demonstrate the Spitzer space telescope’s amazing infrared imaging abilities. These images include Nebulae, Galaxies, Super Nova, and much more. Though the calendar is now outdated, it still has a lot of great science information (and cool images). Check the credit for links!

Just Like Fire by Pink

Pink has never been a blockbuster star the way other divas of her era have. We’re much more likely to see a performance from Taylor Swift, or a third one from Beyonce, at the Super Bowl, for example, than from Pink. But sixteen years after her debut studio album, Pink has demonstrated a staying power worthy of respect. Some may attribute this to the strong firebrand persona she’s maintained over the years, which comes through on her new song Just Like Fire, from the soundtrack to the film Alice: Through The Looking Glass. The song has self-assertive lyrics delivered in a somewhat sentimental tone, with a grandiose chorus that reminds me of Katy Perry’s Roar. I probably won’t end up seeing the movie, but I won’t mind if this song comes on my pop music Pandora playlist.

Originally nine small watercolours of a walking crow, made into an animated loop. I had no intention of animating it when I painted the pictures four years ago. The nine small crow paintings were painted for an upcoming exhibition at the time. A couple of days ago I wanted to try and see what they would look like if they actually moved, and so I’ve made my very first animated painting.
