Day 23 (32 In Base 7) Of Rewriting My Novel

Day 23 (32 in base 7) of Rewriting my Novel

I was on a plane again today, so I wrote a bunch. If I didn't crack 30,000 today, I'll crack 30,000 tomorrow. Yay!

I finally got around to writing an introduction for this blog, which was long overdue. I'm definitely not only shouting off into the void of binary while I continue to write.

Neither Odapir nor Ipol are to a point where I would feel comfortable publishing a dictionary, but they're to a point where I can translate as I need to and derive words on the fly. If I ever get to a point where I have 1,500-2,000 words, I'll publish a dictionary, then. Probably online.

Day 46 (1:22) of rewriting my novel

Yeah I finally wrote the Izi and Taguchif meet with governor Bunthun scene, which I decided was a lot shorter than I originally thought it might be?

Like, I make it very clear that she's pretty much just a power-hungry warlord who's jumping at the chance to assume complete control over Zenée adn start turning it into an enthostate and consolidate power by knocking out Tolftorrijv and the Middle States/Sedroste.

She's also a hard-ball. She demands control over Ir Nouzonif City only to immediately call back and be like "yeah, actually, just reparations and bordering land is fine."

since i’ve actually thought about this for my con world, let me indulge:

In Zeneste, lots of fish. Like, insane amounts of fish. Pickled fish. Breaded and fried fish. Grilled fish. I imagine it chopped up and served in little cups or on skewers with the same chopped up pieces.

As you approach the northern parts of Zeneste, there is increasingly more fruit. Mostly stone fruits: plums, apples, pears, peaches. The climate is colder, so closer to the coast you’ll encounter more cod and salmon in the Northeast.

In Åtepsi (which I may later rename), you’ll find much more rice with tropical fruit. They like sweet rice a lot, so balls of sticky, sweet rice are sold a lot. Also okra.

In Ōdapir there’s a lot of dairy (more so than the rest of the world) and so lots of cheese curds. Also tree nuts.

not enough fantasy settings talk about street food like c'mon there was street food in ancient times across basically every culture lemme see what weird snacks you can buy off a guy in an alleyway

Day 27 (36 in base 7) of re-writing my novel

I started Part Three today. Progress still in progress.

Part Three will be particularly hard to write because of how loosey-goosey it is right now, but I'm nailing the plan down. At least the first several thousand words should be planned-out, for now. This part may be very long, like 30-40,000 words.

But it starts off in a particularly dark place. Spoilers ahead, for anyone who cares.

Part Three begins with Iziser reconsidering why he ever trusted Lozerief to begin with, and why she would turn on them. He initially believes its his fault. He also jogs a memory from being back in the only place he ever called "home," and he realizes Lozerief was fighting for him on the sidelines all the while. Why, now, would she go and take his magic?

But Lozerief comes around out of necessity in the end of Part Three. Will I use Lozerief to answer every question? Definitely not, there's still one more Part! And she doesn't have all the answers, only most of them. Including some of the biggest ones that she keeps hidden away from everyone...

"Rationalism" is up there with "Objectivism" in terms of "definitionally funny things to call your own belief system".

I’ve never read this book, I only watched the series on YouTube. I must read it at some point. David J. Peterson’s content on linguistics is immaculate.

I FOUND A BOOK

Look what we got from the library!!! Look at it! Look!

Now that we have The Book, there's no stopping us. You will all be drowning in words and grammar and scripts >:D

But seriously. If I had a flappy hands emoji, I'd be using it right now.

Day Three of Writing my Novel, Meiste.

I didn’t write all that much today, due to obligations outside of the screen. However, I let the characters live rent-free in my head, along with letting my brother power-scale them (because he’s a hyper-nerd and it makes him happy.)

Easily the strongest (introduced) character is Dr. Este Luzrij, the Hero of Earth. She can bend space to her will, teleport, and shrink or move objects. I haven’t decided, yet, if she can do time dilation (because gravity is weird) but she’s definitely stronger than Iziser or Hotautebz.

screenshot of a tweet from "elucent" (@elucentdev)

"nice argument, unfortunately i have drawn myself as the clever brown pi and you as the befuddled brown pi"

the tweet has an image attached - a screenshot of a 3b1b video with two pi figurines with eyes. doing what the tweet says. presumably because the brown pi figure is in the middle of explaining something complicated to the blue one. also the 3b1b logo is in the corner.
