FIC WRITING REVIEW 2023

Winterhawk Big Bang 2025 is here!

To all fans and shippers of WinterHawk! Author Sign Ups are open and Artists can sign up for a reminder now!

But first, for everyone who doesn’t know this event or everyone who needs a refresher since last year:

The Winterhawk Big Bang is a fun, relatively low-effort event, with just 7.5k words minimum for stories and flexible minimums on art and other collaborations. Artists is used as a broad term here and can include things like Moodboards, Playlists, and even Podfic!

Before you sign up, check the rules and this year's schedule first! After that, all you have to do is fill out our Sign-up Form. Be sure to send the form in on time; sign-ups close on 12 March! A confirmation email of your sign-up should be automatically sent to you within 48 hours - if you do not receive one please reach out to the mods via email (winterhawkbb@gmail.com), Tumblr Message or on our Discord server and we will try to figure out what went wrong.

If you're an artist interested in the event, you can sign up for a non-mandatory reminder before claims open! Be sure you won't miss the sign-up and all the wonderful stories that will be written in just a few months!

If you have any more questions, just want to cheer the authors and artists on, or are still considering joining this year, we welcome you to the Discord server to chat and cheer!

This is hard to answer.

Obviously there is a lot of love and work in my long term projects (Building a Relationship, The sound and the colors of Leaves) and I keep going back, rereading portions and working on them.

I have some where I really liked the outcome, but still think I could have come up with a better/less rushed ending or something. It's almost always the ending I'm not happy with.

I like The quiet life a lot, especially the domestic scenes with the kids. And I keep coming back to that one (and the unofficial first part The Countryside is quiet) and think it deserves another part.

And otherwise it really changes with my mood which one I like most in that moment, so I can't pick *the* favorite. But Quiet Life is definitely up there.

Stucky AU: Spa Day

Steve was given a gift certificate for a spa day by Sam and Natasha (they regularly told him off for being a workaholic). It sat in a drawer, forgotten, until he had a particularly long week and decided to finally cash it in.

There he met Bucky, one of the massage therapists. Steve became a regular at the spa and would always request him.

Those around Steve started to notice how much happier he was and that he was taking better care of himself, not overworking so much. His friends gift had worked just not in the way they anticipated. It wasn’t because of his spa visits or even the massages he received.

It was getting to see Bucky.

Bucky looked forward to their sessions too and he couldn’t help feeling a little smug and proud that he could always feel Steve’s stress melt away under his fingertips.

And maybe it had something to do with how his heart pitter-pattered whenever he saw him.

My Masterlist

Hi, I have been summoned.

I have feels for this too.

Jack had the upper hand; he had control over the ring, and everything was going right.

But Matt had underestimated Creel.

And in his hazy state of what was probably at least a moderately severe concussion, so did Jack.

Creel landed a calculated hit, breaking out of the corner, then another to push Battlin’ Jack into the opposite corner and a third to knock him off his feet.

Jack hit the mat, but the smack of flesh on plastic-covered rubber wasn’t what took Matt’s breath away.

It wasn’t the sound of ribs creaking with the impact or the smell of blood spilling from yet another cut on Jack’s face either.

Tell me more about Double Kill for the wip ask game?

Double Kill is a collab with @42donotpanic for our Kill A Character bingo... Maximum feels and sadness. He sobbed, and nobody could fix him. He screamed, and soon even those that were supposed to care seemed to stop. His grief was unfixable, and it was better to spend time on the people the nuns could fix. 

It was in the dark and cool of the night he’d find himself sneaking out to sit beside his father’s grave, the soil damp under the dew. There was little point in trying to sleep, he knew by now it was futile.
