I’d totally love to hear some of your head canons about your fave campers if you wanna gush about something! <3!

Hellooooo 👋 Thank you for giving me an opportunity to talk about the campers. They are very precious to me. 🤍

Usually my mind goes blank when I am asked about headcanons, but I will think very hard about it for you. Some of these may be more of "interpretations" rather than "headcanons." I will try my best to keep it digestible. (Initially, I also wrote "short" but ha..hahaha NOPE. I'll place it under a cut.)

I'll start with Misha since he is my top fav. Let's see …

He's a bit rough, but his heart is in the right place. He is NOT heartless or emotionless. He has a sense of humor, but when it is time to be serious, he does NOT play around.

I do believe with my whole heart he is incredibly strong. His little stick arms appear deceptively weak - you'd be surprised.

and if he is to be believed, his telekinesis is so strong it can cause eyes to pop out. I believe he could break bones with it if the situation were dire (or if Maloof told him to do it…)

Lord only knows what the "Telekilliminiator" entails (misha voice) you do not want to see this move I am warning you.

Let's move away from violence for a moment. He is not outwardly affectionate, but he is not uncaring. He shows it in his own way.

and so, I imagine hugging him has all the warmth of hugging a plank of wood.

But he tolerates Maloof becoming clingy when afraid and cuddly when sleepy.

He is definitely an older brother. He has the protective older sibling instincts, I can tell. I bet he has many younger siblings.

I think he play fights with them often. Roughhousing is how he shows affection.

Maloof and Misha are like brothers in my eyes. Of course they are boss and bodyguard, but I think it's nice how there are some moments when Misha is playing with him or trying to teach him to get stronger.

He does not yell or hit. This is very important. (Every day, I am torn up inside because I drew him hitting Nils a while back … MISHA WOULD NEVER EVER DO THATTTT. I am so sorry for drawing him horrendously out of character.)

He respects the bears. He does not wrestle to hurt them (loosely quoting Campster, not verbatim.)

I am 50/50 on whether he would know Zoolepathy or not. It would be limited to bears. Even if he doesn't know it, they still understand each other in their own way.

He is very brave. He would never turn back from a fight.

And I think when it was his turn to encounter the 'hairless bear' he (tried to) wrestle it, but we know how well that went… It must have been frightening for Maloof to see Misha be defeated.

Is a gamer? There is a picture of Zangief on his Campster page …

Nature gives him peace (me too.)

I like the mystery of what is hidden beneath his hat. Not even I have an idea of what it looks like under there … ALTHOUGH, I have drawn him hatless (with hair showing! THE HORROR) but it was so cursed I deleted it. The world cannot handle hatless Misha.

As for anything regarding shipping, I do not ship him with anyone.

If you want to get his attention, mention anything pertaining to wrestling and/or bears. He'll perk right up like ? :)

I think that's all for my boy Misha. Let's move on to Clem and Crystal, my unstable babies. They are my second favorites, and I like them both equally. Given the nature of these characters, some of these may be upsetting. I will phrase my thoughts as respectfully as I am able to.

Let's start with Clem:

I'll begin with something light. I have given all the campers birthdays based on their zodiacs. I stuck the dates in a random generator and that is how it was decided. Anyway, Clem's is November 10.

Self-deprecating. It serves to take the punch (hehe) out of any insults, and as a cry for help.

His father is awful to him … always going on and on berating him about this and that.

Yeah? Well his dad's a deadbeat and he's projecting his own shortcomings. I made him up in my head for these purposes and I hate him.

And his mother does little to interfere. She's a dead inside husk of a woman (maybe that's where Clem gets it from…)

His parents are divorced, but they still live together. It's complicated.

And I also imagine he has two older brothers. They, too, are very mean to him. I think they are several years older than him. Not adults, but either nearing it or older teens.

All of this has left poor Clem feeling very jaded to the world, and he's just hit double digits…

He doesn't cry very much about it anymore. In fact, he doesn't feel very much anymore.

Tends to dissociate.

Insomniac.

He's given up, but I don't believe he is beyond recovery. He is so young. It is heartbreaking…

Has moments where his mask slips, but is generally better at concealing his inner turmoil than Crystal.

He doesn't strike me as someone very affectionate, but he lets Crystal hug him, hold his hand, etc. and he comforts her when she is upset.

The times he gets to be with Crystal are times when he feels happy, or at least he gets to have some semblance of inner peace, just for a while.

He really does care for her despite trying to drag her down with him. He wants to keep that "connection." His despair is part of his identity to him. It's kind of difficult for me to explain what I am trying to say. He wants to keep being able to relate to her, but he doesn't realize this hurts her and in turn, hurts him. IT'S COMPLICATED, sometimes our thoughts and emotions are contradictory.

Crystal initially gets him to give up the "project" but he winds up falling back into old habits.

It causes a rough strain on their friendship. He doesn't WANT to hurt her by being this way, but he's been this way for so long he doesn't know anything else. Can things really change for the better?

I like to think he DOES get better very slowly with help. It's slow progress, but progress nonetheless. I am so proud of you, Clem.

I don't ship him with Crystal. Their friendship (as flawed as it may be) is very important to me.

Speaking of Crystal, let's move on to her:

Her (randomly generated) birthday is September 22. In fact, I think she was the first one I assigned a random bday since I wanted more happy things to celebrate in September.

She dots all her i's with a puffy heart (Raz says so. I believe it 100%)

Seems to be very ticklish. If you tickle her with the feather, she has three different laughing lines. All of which are variations of hysterical laughter.

Alright let's get into the depressing parts. Her mother is overly-critical, prone to lashing out, and emotionally volatile. She is also dismissive of Crystal's issues, feelings, e.g. "You are NINE what problems could you POSSIBLY HAVE?"

Crystal does her best to avoid getting on her mother's bad side, but it is often a guessing game if her mother is in a bad mood or not …

Her mother's overly-critical nature has in turn made Crystal very harsh on herself. Making a mistake, no matter how small, can send her into a breakdown.

She is gullible and readily forgiving. This leads to her getting hurt repeatedly.

A bad liar. Her heart is too pure to truly lie. That's why Clem takes control when they have to make excuses. She goes along with whatever he says.

She tries her best to see the good in everyone.

She holds onto a tiny thread of hope in her heart, a tiny shred of naive optimism, but she loses her grip more and more.

She gives up the project (after re-braining)

She worries more and more about Clem…

I think she is affectionate with those she is close to. Poor girl needs a damn hug anyway. That's why I like to draw her hugging Clem.

I do not ship her with Clem. I don't ship her with anyone.

I just want to hug her and Clem as hard as I can. MY BAAAABIIIIEEEEESSSS.

Alright, let's move on to Phoebe and Quentin. For simplicity's sake, let's consider them my third favorites.

Let's start with Phoebe. I don't have a lot to say about her at the moment (still working on it), but I'll put together some thoughts I have:

Her (randomly generated) birthday is October 18.

I imagine lots of kids fear her at school due to her inclination to set things on fire. It's very upsetting for her. She only wants to help others.

Part of me wonders HOW she found out she can't burn Quentin (I know it's a mental block, but how did she know she had that?)

And on that note, I wonder so much about how she and Quentin became friends. I cannot articulate my thoughts on my idea of how it happened at the moment. (I know Quentin says the mental block is one of the reasons they are friends, but it's not the ONLY reason…)

She is protective of Quentin. She is ready to light up anyone who hurts him.

Feels very warm all the time. Probably nice to hug. Lucky for Quentin who hugs a lot.

I do not ship her with Quentin. Their friendship is important to me.

I don't have much to say regarding her therapist aspect, or at least anything I'd be able to properly articulate.

I feel bad I don't have much else to say about her currently.

My little disc jockey. He makes me so happy. He occupies my thoughts most days. He's in my mind scratching and mixing all day. Let's see ...

Drawing him with an expression besides happiness causes me great anguish. Fortunately, things do not get him down so easily.

I refuse to believe he swears. I know he says "damn" on Campster, but I think that's as far as he'll go. Even then, it still feels very wrong. He is very much a "dang" person.

He mentions that Kitty got him into scarves. The scarf is part of him now.

One of the most popular kids at camp due to his easygoing and likable nature. Maybe that and his charming looks have to do with being so popular with the girls…

But I don’t see him as the type to be interested in actually HAVING a relationship (using “relationship” very loosely because it’s all kiddie crushes) and more enjoys the chase rather than the catch. In other words, I don’t think he’d enjoy being with Kitty as much as he enjoys singing teeth-grinding songs about her.

I don’t think he would have fallen for Kitty if not for her influence. Even he seems a little surprised that he has a crush on her. ("I can't explain it. It's like she has a spell over me.")

Kitty is 100% screwing with him.

He is pacifistic and does not prefer to use the more offensive PSI-powers, but if the situation were very, very dire, he does have PSI-Blast in his arsenal … but it has to be an emergency. The power is not derived from anger, Quentin seldom gets angry, but instead derived from fear/desperation.

I wonder if he has tried to draw/design his own album covers. He should get Raz in on that.

I think he has maybe at least one younger sibling. Maybe a sister or something.

He HAD a dog, but it died last winter. How sad…

He's a good kid. I bet he keeps his room clean. (I've spent a lot of time thinking about what his room might look like. You can tell a lot about someone by their room.)

He has a hard time saying "no." He doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

Good at de-escalating conflict, especially useful when Phoebe is having a flare up.

Since Phoebe cannot ignite him, he is able to get away with teasing her more than anyone else would. It’s a sign of affection. They’re the kind of friends that can tease each other and it has no impact on their friendship.

Is it reaaaaalllllly a mental block that prevents Phoebe from burning him, or is it just the fact he is too chill to be ignited? (This is a joke.)

I know he's not chill all the time. He has moments when he can be a little passive aggressive.

Phoebe's ride or die. I like to think they remain friends long into their adulthood.

But he doesn't pursue a career as a Psychonaut. I think he pursues a music career. Without Phoebe, he becomes a solo act as a touring DJ. Heeyy, what would his DJ name be? DJ Levitator? hehe

Phoebe does pursue the Psychonaut route. They still keep in touch. (Long distance friendship is nothing new to them, after all)

Yes, I firmly believe that he hugs a lot. He says so on his Campster, but he is not clingy. He just likes to hug, and he'll respect your space if you aren't down with it.

I may draw him hugging, putting his arm around, other affectionate gestures, etc. with Phoebe, but I do not ship him with her. I value their friendship very much. (Have I made it obvious I'm not very into shipping? lol)

He doesn't have to say or do anything. His presence is just very peaceful and calming. (Good vibes, y'know)

Likes all kinds of music. Will listen to anything. Knows all sorts of genres. (The hardcore dubstep gregorian chant cotton eye joe whatever definitely influenced this one lol)

Also the type to send you a link to a song with only about 100 views and was uploaded 10 years ago, but it’ll be a damn good song. He is good at finding hidden gems.

He likes to attribute different songs to his friends. He'll make mixtapes for 'em too.

And I have many songs that I attribute to him lol. He is the only character to be graced with two dedicated playlists. Generally, breakbeat hardcore, DnB, jungle, ravebreaks, garage house, and happy hardcore make me think of him. Bonus points if they have lyrics like "take me higherrrr" or "I'll always be here by your side"

(And if you know your genres, most of those have an emphasis on drums. It is very intentional. It's like … the "electronic" sound I associate with DJs and DJing, and the drums tie to his friendship with Phoebe.)

I think there's something wrong with the game. Raz, what happened?

Some may remember seeing the sketch. I went ahead and finished it on the same day, but I didn't include it in the post. As for Raz, don't worry about him. We all know the real Razputin doesn't bleed gatorade. (Or have insides completely made of cyan goop for that matter.)

I don't think I'll make posting (polished) finished artwork a habit. Y'know, unless ya really want me to.

November 17, 2023 marks 20 years since Superstar Saga was released. It's one of my favorite games and it brings me tons of joy. Sadly, I don't have any big tribute drawings, but I DO have some little doodles I made when I played (and finally beat!) it in 2021.

Something I think about all the time is "how did Quentin react to getting his brain stolen?" Phoebe would have been PO'd, obviously, but Quentin is laid-back and not one to worry excessively. Did Loboto enter like "I'm gonna take your brain!" and Quentin sits there like "It's chill." ?

Well, realistically I suppose he would have been nervous, but trying to play it cool.

Phoebe promised she wouldn't burn any more kids, but Loboto isn't a kid, is he? Hey, this time it's deserved! He's messing with Quentin.

How'd Phoebe and Quentin get kidnapped anyway? They're inside the Main Lodge for 90% of the game, and I think Linda is too big to fit through the door. The absence of one definitely would have worried the other. One goes missing and the other searches for 'em, only to get grabbed too? Unless they got snatched at the same time.

Kirby & The Amazing Mirror turns 20 today. I drew a little something to commemorate it.

Sentimental old person rambling under the cut.

Amazing Mirror is my favorite video game, and it is one of my earliest video game memories. I played it before my sister was born, and before I could even READ. I distinctly remember calling it "Rock Hat Game" (referring to the stone ability) before my mother corrected me. For those unaware, the unique thing about this Kirby game is that the game lets you explore the Mirror World and beat the bosses in whichever order you want. This game was full of mystery to me as a child. This was before I had internet so I couldn't just look anything up. I was always wondering what I would find next. I spent HOURS trying to find rooms I hadn't been in yet, believing they held the most incredible secrets (a child's imagination is very powerful.) I believe I got my first glimpses of the final boss when I was around five or six years old. I remember Dark Meta Knight frightened me because of how fast he moved, but I loved the music that played when you fought him, so I'd leave the game paused just to hear it (too frightened to unpause it or else Dark Meta Knight would whoop my ass lol. Does anyone else remember holding the GBA speaker up to your ear to hear the music? I remember listening to the Candy Constellation theme like this.) Something this game is infamous for are the NUMEROUS times you have to beat the final boss, Dark Mind. I managed to get to his second-to-last phase, the giant eye, when I was six or seven or so. If I had to beat his first form four times, I wondered just how far it would go. I distinctly remember having a dream that some sort of mouse boss emerged from the eye (funnily enough, I got Squeak Squad for Christmas when I was nine.) I beat Amazing Mirror when I was eight years old. It was a Friday afternoon, and I was so excited to finally beat the game that my legs went numb lol. Fast forward a little to when I was twelve or so, I started trying to get 100% completion. This involves entering every room and getting every treasure. I know this game like the back of my hand now. When I was thirteen, I wanted to see how quickly I could beat it after watching speedruns. I can beat it 100% pretty quickly now. It's a game I like to play for my friends because I can beat it quickly and without dying.

The drawing above hardly begins to fully encapsulate how much I love the game, and I struggled trying to think of a drawing that could truly show my appreciation. In the end, I went for something rather simple. Emerald is my favorite spray paint color, but if you asked younger-me, I would have answered "Ocean." I was totally obsessed with finding all the spray paint colors, and I remember turning the game off and on to switch the colors to see how they'd look with the UFO ability. If anyone has read this far, tell me what your favorite spray paint color in Amazing Mirror is in the tags if you'd like! Also, the level backgrounds are absolutely beautiful in this game. They look like paintings, and I wonder if any high quality, non-GBA-compressed versions exist. The light blue Peppermint Palace background is my favorite (it's also my header.) Let me know what your favorite level and/or level background is as well. I'm gonna wrap this up because I've went on for too long blurting my guts out over a GBA game. I still feel like I've barely scratched the surface about all I love about this game. I will not be making this kind of long-winded rambling a habit though lol.

Here is Chevron! She also likes to go by "Chev." She might have a bit of a mean or aloof look to her (Sometimes. She seems pretty happy in that drawing though), but she really isn't mean at all. She is one of Hertz and Caprio's classmates (if you remember them.)

She's used to her peers telling her to "shut up" and to "go away" and that she's "weird." It used to bother her, but not anymore. She knows their frail minds cannot understand her, so there is no use in trying. She knows who she is and she owns it.

She has a very strong interest in the paranormal and "spooky" things. No one wants to hear about this, so she's all alone. That's fine, she has her "ghost friends."

Some of her other interests include collecting rocks, gemstones, sticks, leaves, feathers (molted from her avian classmates), or other meaningless "trash" items, staring menacingly from around the corner, and trying to explore places she isn't supposed to be in.

So when Hertz (a real life demon, just like the ones in her books!) joins the class, she is ecstatic. She's fascinated with her (please don't be weird about it though, they're kids and there is no romance.) She can be overwhelming when she is passionate about something. She can also be a bit oblivious at times.

I'm glad that my adult Crystal was met with positive reception. I couldn't decide to show with or without color, so just have both versions.

if you're up to do requests, could you do Raz interacting with a couple campers of your choice? i think my favorite part of the first game is the different conversations with the different campers, and i also really like the way you draw em ^_^

I don't normally take requests, but I like Raz and I like the campers. I can't turn down the chance to draw them.
