okay so ,,. my thoughts on A Minecraft Movie bc silly

made this part of the post all colorful bc yea

(spoiler warning sorta) (well yes) (very angry catto ahead.. be warned!!!) (well sort of, i tried to stay calm ish.)

(also eyestrain warning bc lots of wordz,,.,)

i typically wont rant about this type of stuff because personally i don't care that much. but seeing the reviews on A Minecraft Movie is actually sad, especially coming from someone who watched it in theaters and actually enjoyed it.

., keep in mind i wrote this after i watched a very angering review video from one of those "film critics"" who only say bad stuff about everything. so i apologize if my tone is very... y'knoww. (literally can't think of the word rn ;p) however i edited in some stuff after to kinda make it sound less rude but idkkk. i don't think it is but it might be so apologies in advance if you disagree with me.

you are allowed to have your opinion, and i'm allowed to have mine.

please take this with a teeny tiny grain of sand.

to get straight to the point, i absolutely LOVED the movie. here's why:

i liked the awkward sorta wacky humor, it gives off napoleon dynamite vibes, early 2009 movies type deal. (duh, it's by the same director.)

the cheesy lines, it feels like it adds a sort of wholesomeness to it??

the plot, unlike a lot of movies i've seen recently, the plot is stable, well built up, and understandable.

the character development, sure it occasionally seemed like it was off track in the beginning, but TONS of movies do that and i don't see anybody complaining about that. plus, it makes sense later in the movie.

the acting and the actors, (need i say more?) okay i will. i love how steve literally just says random things when it happens. my deadass can't stop laughing at "FLINT AND STEEL‼️‼️" "CHICKEN JOCKEY🤭🤭" and all the other silly lines they have.,,.- it's not supposed to be serious. why so serious. it's silly. it's fun. live a little.

the soundtrack, it's a good mix between the original minecraft soundtrack and some other songs fitting the moment, don't necessarily know how to explain it but the pigstep scene was really cool to me.

, heck, the art style? it grew on me in the first couple weeks of the trailer release. i feel like that's just people's opinion that it's bad because they're not USED to it. ofc, they want it to be the standard 3d minecraft animation style, like, literally every other minecraft animation EVER?? i like the originality.

and the REFERENCES? oh god the references i loved them so much. technoblade, cooked chicken farm from 11 years ago, everything. just look closer and you'll notice a LOT.

people tend to complain about the plot of it, but yeah, that's why it's called "A" minecraft movie. it's not SUPPOSED to be following a specific plot. I believe the main elements are from minecraft legends, though, but it takes different elements from different games, such as the boots of swiftness from minecraft dungeons and the references to the early concepts of the game. also, just the layout. if you didn't watch it in theaters, then i'll have you know ALEX was referenced at the end!!! i always stay for the ending snippets after the credits. also unrelated sort of related, the text color in the credits was lowkey a vibe. like it kinda hurt my eyes but in a good way kinda vibe.

what i'm saying is, i feel like people are giving it a bad review either cuz they're being biased and crabby, or because literally everyone else on the internet is doing so. let people have fun. go outside. you're not a movie critic, you're a basement dweller. a very nit picky one at that. but what do i know maybe my recommendations are just screwed up with negative stuff. i try to block it out as much as possible, not interact and feed into it and such. but it's what's trending, so i'll just live with that. and wait for something i don't care about to come along, for people to complain about instead. (i'm calling it lollll) (i literally hate the internet sometimezzs ughhh)

or maybe, you just don't like it cuz it's not ur thing. maybe you don't like it because you were expecting something different. maybe you don't like it for other reasons.

that's fine too.

, don't be biased based on the first trailer and impressions. be open minded. have fun. (psst! you fell for the ragebait!! you're giving them more money!!!!)

also, the fact that i see stuff like "why does everybody think it's so great i didn't like it" is absolutely mind boggling. look around!! EVERYBODY is talking about how bad it is. EVERYBODY is agreeing with the majority, because that's simply how people are. you are NOT in the minority for disliking the movie, pal. join the crowd.

(again, maybe i'm just on a bad side of the internet, and there's another side that's talking about how good it is. trust me i'm looking!!! ;w; )

@kittycat9876 okay here's the speedpaint! it might be a bit unclear, but what i did was i drew stuff and then imported photos on them using "alpha lock", and i also messed around with blending modes and effects such as chromatic effects, noise, and bloom. i also turned up the saturation a lot on it, haha.

(it's a bit long so idk if the upload will work ;;)

(also i'm aware of the controversies surrounding nekozuna/glitterpop. i don't really have a say as i don't have much info, but i put the song simply because,. i. just,. like the song .)

having mydriasis (med/drug induced dilation of pupils) is lowkey fun sometimes. I have numerous photos in my gallery of me just intensely staring into my camera and laughing to myself.
